Substitutions were terrible. Trossard turned it over every time he touched it, Nwaneri and Jesus had 5 combined touches, Partey and Jorginho passed it around at the back. Not to say the starters were any good, but the subs stood out as being particularly bad.

one did notice that the team didn't involve nwaneri in the play as much as they did odegaard. as soon as that substitution was made, the ball went out to the left flank far more often.

We were definitely lacking in sharpness. And Everton defended well. But I still think we deserved a win today. Luck wasn't with us. And I still don't see how that wasn't a penalty when Partey was taken down.

I applaud Arteta for trying to mix it up at 60 mins with those changes. Usually he digs his heels in and doesn't try something new until five minutes before the end.

I honestly don't think that was a penalty. If it was given it would be really really really soft.

And if we're relying on one debatable penalty shout in the 91st minute to win a match against Everton then that's on us.

We created almost nothing the entire match

It feels like we're regressing back to early Arteta football vibes. I think we are better but so are our oppositions smh

[–] sensiblepuffin 3 points 3 days ago

We're just getting absolutely no luck and we're rolling 1s on every encounter.

Our passing was abysmal today

[–] MHPengwingz 2 points 3 days ago

Well at least I have the women's team to look forward to tomorrow 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

That Dubai refresh could not come soon enough

We just haven't been at the races for a minute. Even when the subs came on, everyone was taking four or five touches.

I'm so fucking sick of this. Everyone seems to be completely clueless in front of goal all at the same time. Simultaneously, I feel our tactics are playing into our opponents' hands at times, like playing physical at Newcastle

I just got back from a week of hiking. What should I choose:

A - 3 min highlights

B - 9 min highlights

C - 25 min highlights

D - Full replay

E - The Monaco match

[–] Aesecakes 1 points 2 days ago

I ended up choosing F - the WSL

Get drunk and then watch the full replay

I think a serious conversation needs to happen on if arteta should still be our manager.

We are back to the donut of sadness

No ideas

No forward passing

No urgency. Everyone just standing there looking around or taking 7 touches before passing it to the guy who has been open the entire time

No scoring goals. No taking people on. Everton had a geriatric at right back and we didn't go by him once.

No runs into the box. No interplay in the middle. Our entire strategy seems to be pass it wide and hope to win a corner.

I appreciate that we've been brought back to the top table the last two years but now we need to either really kick on or we go back to our bullshit years.

You will not win a title with Havertz and Jesus. Buy a striker. Buy a midfielder. Buy an actual left winger so Martinelli can be our sub.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I think he still should, but with caveats. I don't want rid of Arteta, certainly not this season, but the clock is ticking and he needs to deliver a trophy soon. We need to sign a proper striker and a couple of other players in the summer, and we have to win a major trophy next season if we're unable to this time around.

We've come a long way under Arteta, but it's time we started to see silverware.

[–] LotrOrc 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

If we keep saying next season we are gonna turn into spurs and that is a frightening thought

I'm not saying he hasn't brought us forward and we shouldn't be thankful

But I think at this point a trophy this season is the minimum and we only have the fa cup and the champions league to go for. Im not entirely sure we will be able to win the champions league but I would love to be wrong there

One more year he will buy two more centre/left backs and call it a day. Havertz should be a sub. Not a starter for a league winning team

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The problem isn't Havertz. Havertz was putting up world class numbers at the end of last season and decent numbers coming into this season, but then Arteta moved him and his role has changed. He's playing a lot deeper and keeps dropping into midfield. Those tactics would kill even prime Messi.

The tactical decision making was criminal, the substitutions were nonsensical. Someone said it on one of the videos, Arteta has been too scared to lose this season and it's costing us. When Ødegaard was out, he didn't give Nwaneri a chance and now he expects him to do what in the 20 minutes.

I'm not Arteta out, but our biggest hindrance this season has been him.

[–] LotrOrc 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

World class numbers? Havertz hasn't once put up world class numbers in his life.

He hasn't once scored above 20 goals a season. That used to be the bare minimum for a top striker to be considered as having a good season

Did you forget Messi and the false 9? Pretty sure the little guy did perfectly well in that exact role.

Arteta has always been trash with substitutions. Since the very first season.

It's 5 years of the same old and now we are regressing to the mean. I know he's not going to get fired this year but if he does not buy a striker, winger, and midfielder to replace Martin we will be stuck saying next year again. If he does buy those 3 positions this season or in the summer and we still win nothing, arteta needs to go.

Can only spend so much and get no results from it. His football is cowardly and he never goes for the kill.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He finished the season with the equivalent of a goal every other game, a record he maintained pretty much until now

[–] LotrOrc 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He scored 13 goals in 37 appearances. Yes that is almost a goal every other match. But no, that is an awful return for a striker at the top of the league on a team aiming to win the title. You need a 20 goal a season striker to win the league

13 players finished with more goals than him last season. Including Chris wood.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

He started slowly, we know that. No one is arguing that fact

Top 4 has always been the target so I'm satisfied
