How many of you have a @homeassistant controlled #Christmas ornament?!

This awesome #ESPHome device from Apollo Automation can work standalone by pressing a button on the ornament, or you can flash the firmware with ESPHome capable firmware so you can control it with Home Assistant. Now I can automate the ornament turning on and off, change the colors, and even play built-in songs or even upload my own!

Better yet? 100% of profit goes to #charity !

I have my Christmas tree lights in a zigbee smart plug and some more lights on the front of the house as well. They turn on around sunset if I'm home or when I come home after sunset.

Since my tree is in the room with the TV when something is watched the tree dims with the rest of the lights. Since the light up ornaments are on the same power strip they dim as well. So sort of. I use a zigbee dimmer meant for a traditional floor lamp.

I have a Christmas tree where the light strings are connected to a controller. Not quite as specific but related.

My tree lights (Twinkly) are also controlled by HA along with some Govee stick lights in the front window. No 'smart' ornaments yet but there's still time!

I don't even have a christmas tree 😅

I think having decoration for one special holiday (christmas, easter, etc.) is a bit too wasteful for the small amount of storage capacities I have, especially when it's single use.

I think decorating for certain seasons (spring instead of easter, snowflakes and stuff for winter, and so on) is cooler and less stressful.

I'm growing a few small-ish indoor trees right now (citrus, banana, etc.), which can be used as christmas tree next year, when they're bigger 😁

I think my comment was a bit off topic, but if it inspires at least one person reading this it was worth it 💚

Who says the tree has to be christmas only? My mother usually left the tree up most of the year and decorated it for the various holidays. Like hanging easter eggs on it on easter, ghosts and pumpkins on halloween, etc.

Mine are all out of control.

My tree has 500 ws2812 pixels that I printed c9 covers for. It's running wled and added to HA so it turns off and on with entering the room or watching TV. Added bonus is the addition of a mic so it dances to the music.

I have two, which I got as promo gift at an electronics fair, demonstrating some microcontroller features. Gotta change the batteries, though.

I have a video conference ring that I set to disco RGB and control with the middle button. Does that count?
