It's important to note many of these studies involved self-reported coffee consumption, and the research was funded by the Institute for Scientific Information of Coffee – a non-profit organization supported by major international coffee companies.

Reminds me of all the studies how a glass of wine also extended life that appeared nonstop in the news for the past two decades.

Which was research paid for by big Wine companies.

Being able to afford coffees and living in places where coffee is consumed regularly extends your lifespan. Why do these studies never control for those variables.

[–] 50_centavos 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Depends who their control group was. Probably people from the same area who don't drink coffee.

A team from the University of Coimbra in Portugal looked at 85 previous studies involving participants across Europe, the Americas, Australia, and Asia, analyzing coffee's relationship to mortality rates and health indicators.

I doubt it.

Almost two extra years to drink more coffee. It's that hard to give up.

Two years extra tax I have to pay? I'm sticking with bleach

2 years isn't worth the taste.

I'd rather not waste my money. It's had it's fair chance.

[–] jimmy90 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

so you never found any tasty coffee?

[–] Alexstarfire 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

I wouldn't have made my comments if I did.

[–] jimmy90 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

so people that don't like coffee should continue not to drink it?

[–] Alexstarfire 1 points 2 months ago

That is their choice. I've merely made mine.

I read this as “Enough! Leave me alone about coffee.” And it it cracked me up.

[–] Alexstarfire 1 points 2 months ago

It's apt, in this case. I didn't not expect a discussion about my dislike of coffee.

I'll propose that a nice Guatemalan Antigua is a great starting place. Just cuz.
