I want to know. I don't care if it's a fancy artisan gelato or just your regular soft serve at McBurger's. Do you have a flavor you like? Perhaps a brand? Perhaps you make it yourself? If you're getting scoops, do you have a preference for which flavor goes on top of the other? Do you like wafer cones or are you a cup person? Any toppings?

I always prefer gelato, and some of my all time favorites are sabayon, mascarpone, anything with rum/berries/sultanas, and choc chip mint. I prefer cup to cone. When I was a kid I used to love the soft serve cones but as I grew up they started making me sick so I avoid them now.

I used to be able to get Blackberry Merlot gelato years ago. I haven't had it in years, but miss it dearly

Love when gelato has a liquor or wine in it.

Pumpkin - local creamery is divine

Crushed up cookies/brownies/cake in vanilla ice cream.

I usually have it at events, and once or twice a year on my own. I'd prefer my calories went towards alcohol.

(Planing to dry out at the end of the football season if there isn't a false flag attack during the superbowl)

Store bought: Tillamook Chocolate Peanut Butter

Ice cream shop: Carl’s Frozen Custard in VA. It’s pretty famous in the US. Easily the best frozen custard anywhere. They’re still using their old Electo-Freeze machines to make it. I get their chocolate vanilla swirl or strawberry. So smooth and creamy.

It's a fairly expensive treat, but Jenny's makes a dairy free pint that's coffee sorbet mixed with delightful coconut cream.

The coffee sorbet section is very bright and tangy, unlike any coffee gelato or ice cream I've ever had before. It juxtaposes really well with the creaminess of the coconut cream.

Usually I work on a pint over the course of weeks, having a few spoonfuls at a time. I demolished this within two days haha.

I had one with fresh minced mint + basil along with diced bittersweet chocolate & it went so beyond the average enjoyment of mint chocolate.

Tbh vanilla from a very specific small ice cream shop in Germany. I don't like vanilla from pretty much anywhere else, there are good flavours in other shops but when I'm visiting my parents I have to go there and get the vanilla. Maybe it's nostalgia but it's my favourite and I don't know what to do if they ever have to close.

Maybe they have really good vanilla. I think vanilla is underrated as a flavor in general, and making a good one requires really high quality ingredients because it's such a subtle flavor.

Which one is it? I was spoiled by Kaffeehus in Göttingen. I usually take straciatella or chocolate but there it must be vanilla.

I might as well tell you where I live/my parents live, so I prefer not to say ^^ It's a fairly small village/town

lemon. always lemon. if i get more than 1 scoop, then salted caramel or something with chocolate (like bounty, snickers, oreo, crunchy, dark chocolate, etc)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Important question: sorbet or ice cream/gelato?

A good dark chocolate. Not milk chocolate, but dark dark chocolate.

I’m not picky about brand but my go to is Rainbow Sherbet (no fruit chunks) on a waffle cone. It’s sweet, refreshing, and idk why but it doesn’t upset my stomach as much as other ice cream.

Kiwi. Don't even know if they make kiwi flavoured ice cream anymore, as I haven't had any in decades.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Well I don't recall ever trying any, I'm intrigued

I very much recommend it if you manage to find some!

I remember it being entirely unique as far as ice cream goes. I even remember it having a bit of that characteristic spicy kick to it.

Edit: tried looking around the internet for any clues as to kiwi ice cream producers, but I mostly found recipes for home-made (which is not a bad idea, ngl!). All I can remember about it is that it wasn't pre-packaged - always got it served in scoops, on the spot. So, yeah... may actually be "extinct" :(
