They literally ran through the streets ripping and burning Palestinian flags and shouting pro genocide chants one day ago. They’re scum.

The Israel supporters also beat up a cab driver.

An Arab taxi driver was also attacked by mobs who appeared to be with the Israeli fans, although police said they couldn't identify the nationality of the attackers as no arrests were made.

A group of Israeli fans gathered in the Dam Square on Wednesday were filmed sparking confrontations with locals, shouting “Fuck you” at some of them and “Fuck you Palestine”.

The also refused to participate in a minute of silence before kick-off for at least 200 people who died in the Valencia floods.

If anyone wants to know what kind of people they are, this shows it. They believe themselves superior to anyone and they extend empathy to no one.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 month ago

Absolutely this. I saw the videos first and read newspaper articles later. Nowhere in the articles did they mention the chants and the ripping off of flags, I saw both in those videos. It’s crazy how even violent hooligans are now portrayed as victims just because it fits the narrative.

Yes I've not had good experiences with Israeli sports fans, they take it much too seriously.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I think that's football fans in general to be honest.

[–] feedum_sneedson 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

These were basketball fans, and for a completely unimportant match. It was quite incongruous with the atmosphere in the venue and the attitude of the other team's fans. Very weird!

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

Such people aren't fans of the sport, they go primarilly to cause trouble in a group.

A 30-year-old Maccabi Tel Aviv fan describes the moments of horror: "I finished a four-month reserve in Gaza, and what I experienced here is no less scary. There is a war out here. They ran over me and pulled a knife on me. I am slightly injured, but I am not ready to receive treatment here, only in Israel. We were ambushed. I'm in the market. I saw with my own eyes children who were caught in explosions. They are everywhere. No police, complete chaos. Everything was pre-planned. The police here abandoned us. Every fourth person walking the street is a Muslim who has come to attack Jews. Me and several hundred other fans are surrounded in the hotel, the police don't allow us to leave. They just want to fly home."

Wonder what he did in those 4 months. I bet you it was a lot worse than what he got here.

[–] [email protected] 28 points 1 month ago

You reap what you fucking sow.

[–] LotrOrc 20 points 1 month ago

It was probably scarier because there he was just bombing people with drones and airstrikes and from within tanks and this time he actually was just by himself with no giant guns around

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 month ago

Sounds like he was in the IDF. Captain Hyperbole

[–] Rottcodd 55 points 1 month ago (2 children)

There was a time when I would've sympathized with and supported the Israelis.

But that was 40,000 murders ago.

[–] [email protected] 41 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Like, why the fuck are they still inviting their football teams to play?

[–] mortimer 24 points 1 month ago (2 children)

And why the fuck are they in the Europa league? Last I checked Israel was nowhere near Europe. Aren't they Semitic and from the Middle East? At least they love to use that definition when they shout "antisemitism" at anyone who criticises them. And why are they in the European Song Contest? Anyway, no sympathy. They clearly like violence so let them have it.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The Eurovision has plenty of non-European members (Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Georgia, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Turkey).

[–] HonoraryMancunian 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This is legit the first time I've heard of Cyprus not being European

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

Cyprus is in Asia but it's a EU member.

[–] Viking_Hippie 9 points 1 month ago (2 children)

And why the fuck are they in the Europa league

Because it wouldn't be safe for the Israeli teams to play against teams from all the neighboring nations that rightfully despise the actions of their government.

They could stop murdering innocent people all the time, but losing to European teams instead of ones from the middle east is easier and more profitable.

And why are they in the European Song Contest?

In a word? Corruption. In two words: BLATANT corruption.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Become a good neighbor? Nah, I'll go play with my friends in another neighborhood and be an ass to them as well.

[–] Viking_Hippie 6 points 1 month ago

EXACTLY. I don't know if the people downvoting me are salty Zionists or confused fellow anti-zionists lol

[–] mortimer 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Well, looks like it's not safe for them to play against European teams now too. What a shame.

The only stories about this I’ve seen on Lemmy take a very pro-Israel perspective. Have the Israelis started doing to Lemmy what they’ve done to Reddit?

NBC’s coverage, as an alternative, says this immediately after it’s opening statement:

Videos circulating on social media showed violence in the city’s streets, with one video geolocated by NBC News to near Amsterdam's central station appearing to show people chasing others and physically assaulting them. Separate video geolocated by NBC News showed Maccabi Tel Aviv fans in Amsterdam singing “Death to the Arabs” and “Let the IDF win. We will f*** the Arabs,” as well as tearing down a Palestinian flag.

…which clarifies that the attack was the people of Europe showing that unlike their governments, they do not tolerate genocidal apartheid supporters.

[–] IndustryStandard 22 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

The woman quoted by NBC on twitter literally states the video is of Israeli supporters beating up someone.

NBC and Reuters somehow spin this into Israelis being attacked.

This is absolute insanity.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 month ago

Yeah, even NBC’s headline isn’t great. But at least it doesn’t open with bogus “antisemitism” wording.

[–] thisphuckinguy 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Well, if they are chanting “Death to Arabs” then wtf did they think would happen? Nothing?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

Considering there's a lot of Morocco Arabs in the Netherlands, that's a bold move for sure.

I feel soooo bad for a bunch of genocide supporters /s

[–] febra 18 points 1 month ago

They shouldn't even be allowed to travel to Europe for their genocide support.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 month ago

Thoughts and prayers.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Hopefully, the European powers that be will start realizing that Israel isn't a part of us and we don't want that Zionist hatred on our streets. Maybe leave it in Israel next time and behave in a civilized manner. Honestly, i don't want to see football with them or Eurovision with them either.

I'd be ashamed every day if i had to wake up as an Israeli. What a disgrace of a people. Judaism will always have a place in modern Europe but anti Palestinian sentiment does not and i wonder how much longer until both the powers that be and the international community at large realizes European leadership and the European people are not of the same mind when it comes to Israel.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 month ago

If you go to another country you should have respect above all. Fuck around and find out! Love me the dutch!

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 month ago

Only a small portion of the kind of welcome Israelis deserve everywhere they go.

You're not going to find the truth in anything that OP is posting.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Why is there so much nationalism at a club match...

[–] Scolding7300 3 points 1 month ago

I always thought sports fans could do lots of dumb shit
