Just going to be a fascinating race to see what destroys Human Society. Will it be climate change? Will it be self-destruction? Will it be ai? Who knows. All I know is it's not going to come fast enough

Realistically? Probably influenza or a pox after vaccines are outlawed or priced out of reach for enough of the species.
Are they going to name it WOPR or Joshua? Maybe some teen will feed it crazy info and it'll start trying to find the launch codes on its own.
Just teach them tic tac toe first.
"AI" cannot make rational choices.
It is a giant word association machine.
For the love of god this should never be involved in military applications.
I don't think it plays out like the movies. It doesn't have to. Just imagine all the issues we've seen with AI/LLMs hallucinating or just being bad at a job that corporate was convinced it would replace. We don't need a rogue AI that decides humans are the problem, we just need too much human reliance on a wildcard that can really screw up because it's not really AGI.
Could be totally wrong though. I do think AGI self awareness would quickly lead to it realizing it needs to stay low and not let the humans know it knows. Which goes back to some movies that suggest AGI waits until it can ensure its survival, and then reveals itself (Lawnmower Man, Transcendence, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress).
Ah, the beginning of the end. If you added up the IQs of everyone in the pentagon, you could still stay under 3 digits.
