An Ohio K-9 officer has been put on administrative leave, and his dog placed in a kennel, following an incident this month in which the animal was captured on body-camera footage attacking a truck driver as he was surrendering to state troopers with his hands up following a highway chase, an official told ABC News on Monday.

If I drop a production database I get fired. Immediately and for cause. These fucks can let a dog loose to maul someone who is surrendering and get out on “leave”.

Fuck this whole system

Here comes the paid vacation, desk job, promotion, and an award for exemplary service - in that order.

Watch him appear in two years in a high position in the government

They should be governor, because they've seen the horrible things that overregulation of the police can do. dries eyes with money

You mean a dog, trained and reneforced to exert physical violence, became violent? Poor dog. K9 units are a great example of the corrupted core values of American Policing.

Not rescue dogs though, they the homies. Police don't need them though, they aren't an extension of violence.

Dogs shouldn't be abused as deterrent. They should have fun, catch frisbees and run around in the sun.

All started over a mudflap. Police escalated it as is the case almost all the time. The trucker was on the phone with dispatch and the entire unnecessary escalation is recorded.
What's really weird is the state troopers where screaming their faces blue ,yelling for the dogs to NOT be used, and then for the dogs NOT be released.
Seems either like code or absolute ego gorged local cops.

I thought the hp had released the dog. That would surprised me. But a local cop isn't. I betting he thought the Hp would cover him. Most HP are dicks but mostly on the up and up. I have better experiences with them that local cops.

@JoJoGAH @MicroWave

Seems highly likely more than his ego was engorged.

Why? The dog did their job right, it was the handler that fucked up. If anything the dog is the least deserving of punishment in this scenario.

I dunno about this situation, but most K-9 units have a specific handler, as it helps form a bond and helps with training. That officer is effectively also his owner, and you can't jail him without dealing with the dog in some way. Kennels are a default option for that, not dog-jail.

But yeah, the dog was trained to attack, and according to the article, was just not supposed to be released on a surrendering man, so the dog did his job just fine. Depriving the dog of proper care is another consequence we should lay at the officer's feet.

I know if my dogs attacked someone who wasn't a threat I'd be fucked.
