Moose don't sound real (programming.dev)
submitted 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) by [email protected] to c/microthoughts

Moose sound like they're an animal from a horror story, not like they're a real animal. "The deer became the size of grizzly bears and now charge at any humans who they see. Their charges are unstoppable by any method we possess. For centuries we have hunted deer, and now the deer want revenge. They demand blood."

The hammer of Thor-moose will find thee on a dark road at night heathen! Clip the legs, and the smasher will follow; a deadly pounding; Moohalla!

Ever tried to procure perfect moose pelts in RDR2? It will make you believe they're creatures of myth!

That's because they're megafauna technically.

I once stood maybe 40 feet from a moose, in the wild. It was fairly heavy forest and there was no sign of it until it stepped out onto the trail. Moose are not normal animals. They're more like small kaiju.

I lived in Alaska for a couple years. They are definitely real and definitely big AF.

I have seen a cow and calf in Alaska, but they just sound exactly like an animal a horror author dreamed up.

I have seen a cow and calf moose in Colorado. So I know they are real and are reproducing.

I went to Yellowstone. I saw elk, deer, antelope, bear, wolves, bison, a porcupine, no moose.

I went to Moose viewing trail during Moose fest in Minnesota, no moose.

I think you may be on to something.
