Despite texts that show Favre sought to keep his receipt of the funds confidential, Favre has said he didn’t know the money came from federal funds intended for poor people. He’s paid the money back, but he’s being sued by the state of Mississippi for hundreds of thousands of dollars in interest that accrued on the money he received. Favre hasn’t been accused of any criminal wrongdoing.

So they could easily of have funded this themselves, but just rather steal public funds because "free money"? Sounds like a so called "welfare queen" to me.

Woah there, Brett Favre is not a "welfare queen". That would imply that Brett identifies as a women. According to the bullshit pushed by conservatives that can't happen. So that makes Brett Favre a "welfare sponge", "welfare fraud", "king of collecting welfare", "thief", "a hypocritical, piece of shit, who is only collecting welfare cause they need it. Every one is just a welfare bum".

The quotation marks did most of the lifting there, and it's more of an anecdote of their own projections against themselves. They assume these "welfare queens" are driving around in high end cars and living luxurious lifestyles on the governments dollar, while they are the ones doing such. Sorry if there was any confusion. I agree with all the statements you have stated against Brett Farve though, they are the scum of the system they wish to project onto others.

I saw you start dunking on Brett Favre. I wanted to dunk on him too.

I used to work for a software company that was a beneficiary of a $12 million a year political pork grant from the state of Louisiana that was officially intended for improving industrial and manufacturing capability in Louisiana. Somehow, my company was managing to spend this money in Mississippi, and giving it to a national defense contractor that wasn't exactly in desperate need of (more) government handouts. That's how fucking corrupt Mississippi is: they even suck in the corruption from their corrupt neighbors, while making sure that not a penny of that shit goes towards improving a state that I would describe as third-world if it wouldn't be so insulting to the third world.

  1. The media is talking about this announcement more than the embezzlement, so he has used his announcement successfully.

  2. Parkinson's has a dementia element that he is trying to use as an excuse for why his "judgment lapsed." This is literally on its face bullshit simply because he can sit there and talk about it. If the dementia was that advanced, he would not be this coherent. He should have been torn to shreds in this hearing over exactly this.

  3. The worst people literally have zero scruples, so they feel no remorse hiding behind something like Parksinson's to justify and excuse their shitty behavior as somehow justified or not worth prosecuting. Always excuses, never able to take responsibility for anything at all ever. Trump really is their Id realized.

I constantly have to stop my Parkinson's-addled father from committing massive financial fraud.

Its like anyone who is rich has done fucked up shit to get there

[–] 474D 12 points 1 month ago

It's even worse because he was ALREADY rich from football. He stole for shits and giggles.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Literally the only ways to get rich that don't require doing fucked up shit are to inherit the money, probably from someone who did a bunch of fucked up shit, or to be incredibly lucky and win the lottery.

And the latter generally don't stay rich

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 month ago

There have been plenty of studies that refute this, from various countries. I can only conclude that this belief/wish stems from a variant of the puritanical work ethic where hard work will lead to prosperity, and winning the lottery isn't hard work so will obviously not lead to prosperity.

I've won the lottery. Sure, it was only a few grand and my life didn't significantly change. Studies on winners of truly large amounts of money, in the millions, tend to have more successful outcomes, with the studies I've seen putting between 66% and over 80% retaining their wealth for 5 or 10 years after winning.

Goddamit, can Wisconsin have a lead quarterback that doesn't implode their image?

[–] VinnyDaCat 6 points 1 month ago

Damn, I used to watch GB growing up and he was one of my favorites. Loved how even when he was getting his ass kicked on the field you could still see the guy smiling as he lined up for another play.

Fuck man why did you have to do this?
