This story is all over the news, multiple shooters using fully automatic weapons in a suspected assassination? Yeah that'll draw some eyeballs.

authorities believe the shooting targeted one of the people who was killed, possibly in a murder-for-hire. A vehicle pulled up and "multiple shooters" got out and began firing, then fled the scene, he said.

As someone who lives in Philadelphia, these are usually the kinds of stories that get ignored. Targeted shootings have little to no threat on the general population. This sort of event happens at least once a month around here, if not once a week.

What's most surprising about this story is the source. I would have thought this was a local paper. Apparently this VOA organization has been around since the '40s?

Voice of America is a news organization, funded by the US Congress, with a long and storied history. It is primarily intended for an international audience, which is why many Americans haven’t heard of it.

It used to be a highly effective way to communicate quality radio journalism to parts of the world that don’t have a free press, though I believe it has also been used for propagandistic purposes, as well as a way to specifically counter Nazi propaganda during the war. In general, it is held in pretty high regard as a news source, despite being funded by the government.
