Update: no, she’s not gonna be part of the staff. Well, not any more than she already was

Fuck. I haven't been prepared for a Myth member leaving, I thought they were gonna be in it for a few more years.
Ame's done so much for not just Hololive but VTubers as a whole and she will be missed greatly. Although it does say she will remain an affiliate of Hololive, I think a remember a clip ages ago saying about her joining as a staff member after she finished her activities so maybe that is what has happened?
It doesn't say graduation or termination though so somethings definitely different about this.

Yagoo’s tweet doesn’t really explain much, it doesn’t seem like she’s currently joining the staff, but he’s looking forward to working with her again (?)
I wonder whether this eventually is going to result in some sort of spinoff project, otherwise why not a) officially graduate her with full sendoff like they did with Coco, or b) announce an indefinite hiatus, which has precendent in other vtuber orgs. It seems like she's not joining Hololive Staff, so this whole "affiliate" thing seems like she's getting some sort of role change that would land her outside of the current hololive management structure...interesting stuff

While this is a sad announcement it's also kind of understandable? I'm not exactly sure why I feel like this but my first thought wasn't "oh no, how can this be?!" but rather, "yeah, makes sense". Perhaps someone can help me figure it out properly.
Ame always felt to me like someone who'll stick with streaming as long as she has new ideas she wants to realize but won't try to force it just for the sake of staying relevant. I dunno, my mind is not awake enough for this. It's a hell of a surprise to wake up to, that's for sure.
Fat F for AmeSame
I literally have not gotten around to watching her debut yet, so you could say I'm a bit behind even though I've watched plenty of her streams over the years.
The fact that it's not a "real" graduation (while also not going to staff) seems to imply she might come back for special events or something? As much of a bummer as this is, that's what has me most curious:
Any future activities that involve Watson Amelia will be announced through official social media and other channels.
At least we still have https://watsonamelia.com/
edit: it looks like someone is making good use of https://ameliawatson.com/ as well (it used to just redirect to her channel)

Yes, that’s what it seems like. Calli’s last stream also seems to imply we’ll “understand more” in the next days, but maybe that’s just me inhaling too much ~~concoction~~ copium.

Thanks, I needed this :’)
Man, this hurts. The reason why it’s “technically not a graduation” and she “will remain an affiliate” are not that clear, but I hope she has a bright future ahead. She deserves it.
Watoto...
AMEEEEEEE! 😭
Though her channel activities will end, Watson Amelia will remain an affiliate of hololive production moving forward.
Is this corporate speech for sayings she's moving from streamer to staff?

What a terrible day for a rain...
My speculation is that this is a way to let talents retire without sacrificing the marketability of characters. For a corporation, having a character that took so much time effort to develop just to cease being used is a liability. It wouldn't be a Kizuna AI situation since that had such a negative reaction, but I could see continued usage in marketing and merch. I'm sure all parties involved would be happy with some sort of royalty arrangement. It has been described as an experimentation, so it remains to be seen how it will actually play out.
I don’t know, they do say it’s the end of “regular release of new merchandise” too, so if they do release something it’s gonna be an extremely rare occurrence.
Also, it would keep being less and less “marketable” if she stops streaming (and therefore gaining new fans). I doubt it’s just for marketing and merch, as others said, I find it more likely that it’s just leaving the door open for potential cameos in important occasions (that might have merch tied to them, sure).
