I kinda want to see the clip, but not enough to visit Twitter

[–] [email protected] 32 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I took the hit. They're trying to say that he mixed up "immigrants" and "migrants". He absolutely did not. You can hear it clear as day

[–] Maggoty 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

~~You clearly did not take the hit. He gets the entire word out before correcting to migrants.~~

nvm I need sleep.

Just visit the article; it's embedded.

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer 37 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Probably embedded via X. I block that domain on my LAN and I don't see a video.

[–] [email protected] 42 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Same. It's funny when you hit an "article" that is really just a wrapper for a tweets with about a paragraph of actual text remaining.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 days ago

Yup. Whenever I come across an article with a bunch of blank spaces where tweets are supposed to be, I know the “article” wouldn’t have been worth my time anyway. It’s one of the laziest kinds of journalism.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago

It’s a hard-R “slip”. Though I think maybe it was actually intentional and he was just testing the waters for saying it out loud on national television tbh

[–] Maggoty 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

They have the clip in the article, you don't have to go to twitter and it's clear as day.

Whether or not he meant to say migrant or n- is irrelevant. It’s up to us citizens to create these stories so the mainstream media knows of the suffering of non-whites.

[–] [email protected] 30 points 2 days ago

Does this mean we can stop pretending the National Review is journalism? It never has been, but people like to present their stupidity as legitimate discourse. If I had to describe it briefly. I would call it "trying to make being a peasant exploited by your betters seem like a good moral choice using linguistic forms calculated to make the reader feel educated and superior. "

He actually said it and they just kept rolling like it was normal bro wtf

Yes he did. I'd lay a hefty bet that he rehearsed it. Immigrant and the n-word aren't close enough to flub. Impregnate and Immigrant? Sure. And you can see him smirk. He's wanted to say this for a long, long time.

[–] [email protected] 31 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Counter offer: he puts “Haitian” and n-word together so often in private it just rolled out.

[–] someguy3 14 points 2 days ago

This is my bet.

[–] Rapidcreek 52 points 2 days ago

Was only a matter of time before somebody did it. I didn't have Rich Lowry on my racial-slur Bingo card, but I'm not exactly shocked, either.

[–] dohpaz42 40 points 2 days ago

There they go, saying the quiet parts out loud again.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 days ago
[–] cmbabul 9 points 2 days ago

Did he try to make a fucking Letterkenney joke to get out of that?

[–] just_another_person 7 points 2 days ago

He certainly fucking said that.

[–] ATDA 4 points 2 days ago

Yeah this won't end in a bit boondocks has already done a decade ago.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Almost feels like he was reading a telepromter that had split the word “mig-rants” across two lines

[–] spankmonkey 25 points 2 days ago (8 children)

Racists don't deserve the benefit of the doubt.

He gets the entire word out. There's nobody but him to blame. And also, unless it's a comedy show, they're still responsible for editing what they say. They can't just say, oh the teleprompter guy was playing a joke like this is Weekend Update on SNL.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Who the fuck uses a teleprompter for a podcast interview

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 days ago

Yeah, I agree. It just looked like that kind of flub
