well well well

it seems that the literal opposite of "go woke go broke" is what's actually true.

Funny how this shit keeps happening

[–] bappity 72 points 4 months ago (1 children)

that whole movement is so funny to me, like they tried to move to a different beer after bud light did a harmless advertisement and their replacement WAS FROM THE SAME PARENT COMPANY

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

I mean that's just AB InBev working as intended. I walk into my local food lion and the only beers I know or suspect aren't AB InBev are Yeungling or the five local microbreweries that only make IPAs.

Who could've known that pandering exclusively to broke rednecks and Russian bot farms was a bad business idea?

[–] [email protected] 14 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

It's a conundrum wrapped in a mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in an eggroll served as a happy ending at a shady massage parlor totally opaque to the comprehension of all mortal minds except literally everyone with more than half a brain!! XD

[–] MotoAsh 6 points 4 months ago

Actually it would still be lucrative as hell if Russia hadn't started an invasion and gotten themselves sanctioned to hell. A bit harder to get those bribe payments out when no one takes your money any more!

Nah, genius move. Here’s a few billion dollars bonus of our shrinking profits from the next decade or so, so you don’t lose motivation. - half brain dead Tesla board.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The board suggested a vote in favor but it's the investors who voted in the end

[–] Makeitstop 2 points 4 months ago

A lot of people who would have voted no just sold their stock instead.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

The government should cut out their subsidy for Tesla EVs to the tune of the pay increase. Send a message to greedy CEOs to not steal government subsidies for themselves.

Also send a message to the corrupt majority shareholders who voted yes to an absurd pay package. You can bet they get a private call before any major Tesla announcements to get ahead thanks to those votes.

He’d lose all his performance bonuses from the sales cut and the shareholders would want him gone asap.

The deep state is obviously preventing upstanding conservatives from being successful!

[–] [email protected] 11 points 4 months ago

He just forgot the "or" in the middle of that phrase

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 months ago

But Mike Lindell is doing great!!

[–] TheDemonBuer 90 points 4 months ago (3 children)

I will never buy a Tesla. Ever. I would buy an EV, sure, but never a Tesla.

[–] RaoulDook 25 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I could afford to get one and I would like to have an EV but I will not buy a Tesla also. The Twitter douche is part of my reasoning but also Tesla cars are THE WORST in regard to privacy as they collect a shit ton of data and upload it all the time. Mozilla rated Tesla at the very bottom of their chart of "from Bad to Worst" ranking cars on privacy.

https://foundation.mozilla.org/en/privacynotincluded/articles/its-official-cars-are-the-worst-product-category-we-have-ever-reviewed-for-privacy/

[–] kameecoding 7 points 4 months ago

I mean it's also a trash car with terrible UX design which should be your main issue with it, data collection doesn't matter when you crash your car because you need a touch screen for everything.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 4 months ago (2 children)

If someone gave me a Tesla, I’d sell it for cash to a teenager.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 4 months ago

What, you hate teenagers or something?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 months ago

They’re way too fast and heavy for a teenager. Scrap them for parts and EV convert a classic car that deserves to live on.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago

It would have to pull a Craftsman. "Same logo, same market segment, not even a little bit of the actual former company."

[–] [email protected] 43 points 4 months ago (2 children)

And the tesla market share dropped below 50% in the US EV market.

[–] [email protected] 38 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Kia and Volkswagen are massively eating away at the Tesla share, because under Musk's leadership, Tesla doesn't have a Unique Selling Point any more. Other networks are catching up in terms of charging speed and even then Tesla sell access. Their other USP was FSD and Musk isn't investing enough in it. All this while his products are taking a hit due to his public image. What's crazy though, if he delivered the new Roadster or the Truck, he would've increased market-share.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The truck was never going to increase market share, it’s too divisive, dangerous, and poorly built. Plus slow and expensive to build (even to the low quality standards Tesla is becoming infamous for).

The sports cars is for who exactly? Those don’t increase market share, it’s just a prestige car. Also a big part of the sports car market wants sound, and doesn’t drive them daily either. When it’s a weekend toy, so being electrified has a smaller positive impact, and likely will never even out the material production pollution vs usage pollution.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 months ago (1 children)

What if the truck was "normal"? I mean, for now, they're still selling a lot of the low poly ones, but something sized like a Ranger/Colorado or Maverick and styled more like the R1T seems like a way smarter move for them.

Imagine an alternate history where he never bought Twitter or started a SuperPAC and Tesla made a normal truck, the new Roadster, and was close to releasing the Model 2.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

And that's the thing nilloc is missing. It was never about how many trucks and Roadsters were delivered, it was about mindshare and cool factor.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Roadsters/sports cars are always about brand prestige, but that doesn’t necessarily help the bottom line, most often it the pet project of an auto exec. VW lost money on every Veyron it sold.

The cyber truck is an even dumber pet project, and really shouldn’t be legal as US such a danger to bystanders. It’s stubborn design is also much more expensive to produce, especially to achieve an acceptable fit and finish.

I was replying to a comment that was prescribing a post to financial success for Tesla.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Why shouldn't the design be legal?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Have you seen the guy who was inspecting his new truck and sliced his wrist open in the exposed edge by the tail light?

Also the leading edge of the truck is absolutely a pedestrian murdering device.

Most modern trucks are also terrible and need to have pedestrian safety rules applied to them, but at least they aren’t made with “bullet proof” sheets of stainless steel with literally knife sharp leading and trailing edges.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Sorry, we were having a language problem. You're using American truck and I'm using British truck, so we're talking about two totally different things.

Your truck is the pickup, mine is the long-haul thing. 😂

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Aahhh, that makes sense.

There are still some major problems with the Semi trucks too though, but purely thermodynamically.

Probably going to take overhead charging on shorter routes to work. The Mid-west US is going to take swappable batteries or a huge leap in charging and capacity.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 months ago

Happened to see this the other day, it would suggest that charging is more normal then we anticipate

[–] [email protected] 26 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Probably has a lot to do with mainstream car makers catching up, although Musk is definitely becoming a liability to the company.

[–] [email protected] 35 points 4 months ago (2 children)

I think that's the biggest part. Tesla gained it's huge market share by having the right product at the right time with the right company image. Tesla should have been focusing on fixing their quality issues, and should have either booted Musk or chained a PR person to his side. Instead they put out the Cybertruck, which is divisive at best, and have a CEO who seems to be doing everything he can to destroy the good will of their core market.

It was inevitable that the mainstream manufacturers would catch up.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 4 months ago

Yeah, they wasted time on cars like the Model X, semi and Cybertruck, all needlessly complicated vanity projects that took resources away from the Model 3 and possibly a Model 2. Not to mention the FSD that's been 2 years away for like a decade now.

If they stuck to their initial roadmap they would probably be in a way better position, although without Musk I don't know if they would've been able to juice the stock the way they have now. His cult is basically keeping the stock price irrationality high.

[–] legion02 10 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Seeing a lot of ev6/9 and ionics around me lately. Hyundai/Kia picked a really good time to expand their lineup.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

They just reached double digits % in the US market

[–] [email protected] 40 points 4 months ago

well, your CEO told me to go fuck myself so I'm kinda busy doing just that to go buying your stainless coffin on wheels.

[–] [email protected] 35 points 4 months ago

And Tesla shareholders just gave Musk a $56 billion bonus. Money well spent!

[–] carl_dungeon 27 points 4 months ago

Weird how when everyone realizes your leader is human trash, they don’t want your products either!

[–] auzy 13 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

It's just really silly.

Plenty of Toxic Right wingers with small Willy's need their car to make loud noises so they can pretend to be alpha's . They're not the target market

Left wing people are the primary market for EVs. But he has done everything he can to piss us off and even bolster the guy who is actively fighting EVs

So, no idea who his target market is meant to be at this point. Why would anyone running a company promote a president who fights against their products 😂

[–] MataVatnik 12 points 4 months ago

A lot of genius business men these days

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Tesla came off my list as well because of Musk. Apple will need to buy Tesla some day at fire sale prices.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 4 months ago

Why does the Elon sunscreen have sexdoll mouth? Wrong answers only.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 months ago (2 children)

If he’s going to sell his Tesla shares to fund Xitter and his crusade to pull the world to the far right, that could be its best hope. If, say, Toyota or Ford or someone pick up Tesla, cherry-pick its best technology, add their own expertise in actually making reliable cars and keep the marque as their electric vehicle line. They can offload the Cybertruck to Hummer or some other toxic-masculinity-oriented brand.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 months ago

Send it to Hyundai or a Chinese brand, Ford can't be trusted and Toyota are still obsessed with ICE.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 months ago

Hummer is owned by GM and at current is their only offering for an electric truck sadly.
