I'm east of these beaches this week on vacation. Is this related to the high water temperatures in the Gulf? Saw fish have been driven to strange behavior in southern Florida recently.

This is definitely out of the ordinary for this particular county (from what I can tell).
Only 1 shark attack has been recorded in this county in the last ~140 years.

Also a fun fact, while most of the shark attacks (in the U.S.) happen in Florida, you're very likely to survive. (About 15-30 attacks per year, and only 1 fatality every few years if I'm remembering correctly).
However, while you're much less likely to get attacked in California, if you do get attacked, you're far more likely to die. (About 1-2 shark attacks every year and a fatality every other year if, I'm remembering correctly).

Huh. Guess sharks sometimes do eat junk food….
Actually, that area is mostly frequented by affluent tourists. It includes Seaside (where The Truman Show was filmed), Ally's Beach, Rosemary's Beach, etc.
So, junk food then.
Walton county. No surprise there.
Walton county has only had 1 attack in the last ~140 years, if these numbers are correct:
https://www.floridamuseum.ufl.edu/shark-attacks/maps/na/usa/florida/
Edit: Numbers are for unprovoked attacks... of course if you're male, in your 20's, and you're intoxicated... the numbers are different.
I used to live in the area. It's infested with sharks but they do their best to avoid people. Once, from my balcony, I saw a shark swim towards a group of little kids. It wasn't a huge shark...about four feet would be my guess. The thing was just "on patrol" for lack of a better term. When it got to about eight feet from the kids, it finally noticed them. That shark noped out to the open sea like a bullet.
The reason I say that I am not surprised is because of the large population of sharks in the area, how close they normally are to swimmers, and how the number of tourists keeps rapidly growing. It just seems to me like it is more of a 'when" rather than an "if" there will be a shark bite incident.
Mommy Shark and Daddy Shark? Doo doo doo doo
they went to go hunt just like in the song.
