BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — Andrew Tate, the divisive social media influencer awaiting trial in Romania on charges of human trafficking and rape, lost an appeal Thursday to have the court relax geographical restrictions preventing him from traveling outside the eastern European country.

The Bucharest Court of Appeal ruled against Tate, who had challenged a May 10 decision that extended by 60 days restrictions on the 37-year-old stipulating he may not leave the country. Tate had requested that he be able to leave Romania, provided he stay within Europe’s ID-check-free Schengen zone, which Romania partially joined in March.

Behind bars and fingers crossed, without any way to use social media for the entire duration.

shitting on the romanian justice system and trying to flee the country probably outweighs his "fundamental free right to travel" (like his lawyer said).

this modern slaver should rot in a cell, human traffickers are garbage (helping endangered people to flee excluded ofc)

Glad he lost the appeal.

I wonder when he's finally going to court for his trial.

That's currently being scheduled.

The complication is that he'll never spend a day in Romanian prison, the UK has requested extradition. As soon as the trial is over, he's headed to the UK. From that point, it's Britain's decision as to what happens next.

On the plus side as a Romanian, him becoming a convicted criminal here means that no matter what the UK decides, he can't come back.

Just being convicted would be enough for me so I could rub that in one of my friends' face who's been saying that he's misunderstood and a nice guy.

He doesn't believe he's guilty and rather believes that it's a bunch of crazy women out after him for fame and money.

If the Trump conviction is any indicator, the conviction will only bring more excuses from Tate's fans.

He should be locked up again (or at least placed back under house arrest) for claiming that he has “fundamental free right to travel”. Believing he has that “right” makes him a flight risk.
