Hey, so the option to filter out entire instances would be nice, considering some non-english ones have very active communities.

I think we will see this very soon in Lemmy. See: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/2397

At that point, of course we'll add to Voyager!

I'm not sure either understand the fact Lemmy has language settings that aren't apparently used. Seems this can be solved by just setting the language to "English" for instance...

Considering I've used the mobile app exclusively, I didn't see the language setting, thanks! But the issue remains, I'm still getting posts from Italian/German instances and others. Maybe the language isn't set for those particular instances ?

Yeah when I was changing the language settings it tells you not to de-select "Unspecified" for language. Since a ton of people don't set their own language. If you only had English on it would only show English posts. But it would also only show the people who do use the language setting properly, so a lot of posts in English would be blocked too.

I think it would be beneficial to start enforcing not using that setting. Don't receive posts from anyone that has unspecified at the server.

not just language issues, maybe try scrolling through ALL and not wanting to see an avalanche of communist propaganda shitposts for example.

By my understanding that would need to be supported by the Lemmy protocol directly first to work properly.

The app could just filter out stuff from blocked instances after it gets the data from Lemmy, but then you'd just get mostly-empty pages if you've blocked a lot.

Apparently the Connect app handles it client-side. It obviously doesn't translate over to browsing from desktop or anything, but it makes the app experience that much more enjoyable. Connect breaks my subscriptions though so I can't use it. Would love to see Voyager add this feature though!
