Intolerance can not be tolerated, and perhaps the police coming around to have a chat with intolerant people is a good thing. It's concerning it happened but yeah, doubtful that's the full story.
As any liberal knows, completely arbitrary law enforcement is the basic building block of a functioning democracy.

Yes, china does moderate the speech of it's citizens. In theory this is part of the state's duty to protect the cohesiveness of their political and cultural hierarchy. This is fairly standard in any socialized nation that's confronting reactionary influence.
In this way, wouldn't Germany utilizing the state's power to protect it's vulnerable populations from reactionary culture wars be a win in the eyes of leftist?

Right..... But western countries tend to be more liberal with protecting hate speech. Their usual claim for what's good for the country is to allow reactionary speech to dominate the public forum.
Limiting hate speech and reactionary calls to violence isn't exactly what the west is known for. So they are progressing the status quo towards collectivism and away from libertarian values.
