The entire point of organized crime is to use violence to generate profit. While almost all gangsters have social skills and regular lives, they will literally beat you within an inch of your life if they feel you've given them "cause", and likely kill you if you don't get the message.

Isn't that widely known at this point? YCombinator was involved with reddit since the very beginning, and they are the ones who got Aaron Swartz involved in reddit to begin with.
