Obviously, she's attractive. I'll let someone else posts tired Futurama memes.

But I'm glad more women are getting into weightlifting and no longer believe the myth about it making you look masculine.

There was (and still is) a taboo around it, but I think it would do a world of good to a lot of women. Not only does it make you look more attractive, but feeling stronger can be very empowering, and I suspect help you feel safer and more confident.

Personally, I've found it's great for keeping weight off and tackling mental health issues too. My life may not always go as planned, but I keep lifting, and I keep making (admittedly) slow progress. And when it comes time to lift the washing machine, I no longer have issues.

The women’s 76 kg IPF worlds competition was insane this year. You should watch it. And join me in [email protected]

no longer believe the myth about it making you look masculine.

It depends on how far you go with it.

It’s definitely possible to make you look masculine. But the average woman lifting weights is probably never going to reach that point. It’ll just enhance their physique.

Buettner has won a gold medal in powerlifting. If she hasn't become masculine, it's near impossible an amateur will either.

Let's be real, women who do become more masculine looking, are almost certainly taking steroids, not just lifting weights.

If a man thinks a woman looks more masculine than them, than that's either a sign to redefine masculinity or lift more.

The way Wonder woman in the movies should have been. A jacked up Amazon who has trained to fight her whole life, not skinny, supermodel, 0oz of muscle gal Gadot.

Yeah but where are you gonna find actresses that also do body building.

Or willing to get roided up.

We had one, but she started saying some things about how conservatives were the real victims of the holocaust...

I honestly have no idea who you are talking about

I know. I was so disappointed to see Gina falling down the Kevin Sorbo rabbit-hole. Sorbo, at least, has multiple strokes, which have altered his personality, but for her, that seemed to be an un-forced error.

I liked having a strong woman lead, we don't have enough of those.

Just shut up, that's all you have to do, don't say "Liberal Jews are coming to steal your kids adrenal glands!!!", don't say "We need to gas all conservatives!!!", just STFU. Same rules as a normal job.

You want to do that shit in your private life, keep it quiet, hell even Mel Gibson gets work, and everybody loves Kelsey Grammer still.

There was Natalie Portman in thor love and thunder. But yes, I think they would incur in the wrath of guys with fragile masculinity that can't see a woman with more muscles than them

Jess is awesome! She's a type 1 diabetic (you can just barely make out the Libre CGM sensor on the bottom of her left tricep). She serves as an incredible inspiration to other type 1 fitness nerds like myself.

Do you compete, or interested? Join me at [email protected] . I'm desperately trying to build the community here on lemmy lol.

Not in powerlifting - I do amateur crossfit comps from time to time. I enjoy watching powerlifting, though, so maybe I can contribute!

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Do it! I’ve been tempted to try CrossFit from time to time, but I train in a home gym so I’m pretty limited.

Omg @[email protected] so glad you’re here!

I'm going to be a bit of an asshole here. With the amount of effort that she obviously put to attain that level of physical preparation (which is impressive for my couch potato standards), I'm a bit miffed that the costume itself is a bit meh. Still, she is a better wonder woman in that than I'll ever be even with the original costume and a team to set me up!

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah, she might need someone to work on a costume for her. As I understand it (as just an instagram follower) cosplay isn't something she does a ton of. It seems like mostly cool Halloween costumes.

There's a couple cool youtube videos of bodybuilder, James Hollingshead, cosplaying as Kratos at comicon. He gets professionally done up and it looks like a lot of fun (https://youtu.be/lrGU77uf4Ic)

It'd be a lot of fun to see Jessica professionally done up as an action heroine at a comicon. She could be a real life she-hulk or wonder woman.

Congrats on her for the work and thats a really good wonderwoman.
