against who? hes not going to do anything without chinas blessing.. he cant just go slap sk cuz the US is all over that shit, and china wont let him start ww3. ukraine is the only place he could expend energy and not annoy china, and hes already there.

seems like manchild is just running out of standard rhetoric and is finding better ways to get everyones goat.

correct me if im wrong, i am pretty stupid

I think you might be misinterpreting China and NK relations here. China moreso sends aid to NK since if the regime collapsed, they'd have to deal with the refugees. It's not as simple as China pays the bills therefore Kim is their puppet. If he went against their wishes they could use force or withhold aid, but that would also just lead to them dealing with a refugee crisis.

Although an invasion is unlikely it's worth keeping an eye on since the result would be a disaster for every party involved.

i was thinking more; china is reigning authority in the region and kim isnt about to go against the bigger bully

That's definitely a big factor here, but NK does have some leverage over China. China for example has not been happy with NK nuclear and missile tests, but they have continued anyway. I guess it's just a question of how far NK might stray from China's authority.

My take is that it's part of how to control the population. If NK propaganda is constantly saying that the world is going to invade and that the country has to always be ready for war may help keep them subservient and conditioned to being without many material things. (If your government has to feed a war machine, the people will always need to "ration".)

The theory goes that most of the rhetoric isn't actually aimed at everyone else. It's just to show the people how strong their government is. The need to poke at Japan, for example, by killing innocent sea creatures every year. This forces SK and the US to perform our shows of force. NK can point and say: "See! The world hates us and is sending their military to get us!". (They are only half right about that.)

It's an endless and stupid cycle. Fat man is going to eventually get drunk and push the wrong button or a missile is going to veer off target and hit something important one day.

I suspect China will calm an escalation from the world and absorb NK when that happens. Or, China let's the world turn NK into the biggest DMZ in history. (NK is an effective defensive buffer for China, is the reasoning.)

hey, that makes a lot of sense! it reminds me of a lot putins nonsense headlines

It might help if the US stops staging war games based on assassinating their leadership and invading the country. Like, maybe they could stick to defensive war games based on protecting SK, at least.

There is literally no difference in those two scenarios when it comes to war.

If the title is a question, the answer is no.

Meanwhile, I just want to watch that bizarre video of Kim at the volleyball game again. Drugs aren’t necessary with things like that at our disposal.

This is shaping up to be the year of "status not so quo", and they've been para bellum-ing since the 38th parallel. If Kim is saying "maybe today, satan" it wouldn't suprise me

That's literally all he is ever doing
