Where are you going with this? There's a lot of directions you could take this meme and like half of them are problematic.

The very real implication is that Anakin is an online conspiracy theorist who generally always arrives at the conclusion that Jewish people control the world.

[–] samus12345 8 points 10 months ago

I didn't even consider the Jews being to blame. That's such an incredibly stupid take I forget it exists until I see it again.

[–] Exosus 3 points 10 months ago (2 children)

You should piss off both sides..

"Jews control the world, as they should!"

[–] EvolvedTurtle 2 points 10 months ago

I don't know a thing about Jewish culture But tbh I'd be down for a change of pace

Probably better then what ever we got going on here

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Ah, the Bibi Pill.

[–] CaptainSpaceman 38 points 10 months ago

Thats the point. Hence why votes are mixed. Engage bait is the point, and we both fell for it

? Anakin is a tinfoil hat wearer and Padme is the reader

[–] [email protected] 35 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Spoiler alert Anakin isnt the good guy and goes on the become Darth Vader.

I know right?! Kid had such a promising podracing career.

He's making fun of antisemitic conspiracy theorists. When somebody doesn't make a hamfisted soapbox of "HERE'S AN EXCRUCIATING EXPLANATION OF THE JOKE AND MY BELIEFS" that doesn't mean we assume they're a nazi.

[–] Exosus 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I thought capitalists and globalists are code for Jews in antisemitic memes?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Yes. That is literally the joke.

[–] c0mbatbag3l 0 points 10 months ago

I mean most do, that's why Lemmy is doomed to failure.

[–] samus12345 26 points 10 months ago

"They're not shadowy, they do their evil out in the open."

[–] [email protected] 20 points 10 months ago (4 children)

I don't get it is it supposed to be anti-semitic

[–] [email protected] 24 points 10 months ago

That's definitely where Anakin is going, at least.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 10 months ago

Anakin is, yes. Padme isn't.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 10 months ago (1 children)

My interpretation is that Lucas made it out to be entirely the evil Sith destroying an otherwise reasonable galactic social order. When in reality, fascism happens with no magic required.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 10 months ago (3 children)

Not at all IMO, the Sith simply took advantage of the evil inherent in the system. That’s part of why the Jedi were so blind to it.

[–] chuckleslord 11 points 10 months ago (1 children)

(It's almost like the United States is the empire/ old republic)

[–] [email protected] 13 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, it is, that’s not a secret

[–] chuckleslord 8 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

You have no idea how many people don't understand that. Even if you tell them, they don't get it.

("You have no idea" is used as an intensifier here. I don't know what you know. I'm neurodivergent and feel the need to clarify)

[–] [email protected] 6 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I legitimately saw someone say that they heard Star Wars was inspired by the Vietnam War, then said the fucking Empire represented the Viet Cong and Communism.

Some people legitimately can't analyze anything to save their lives.

[–] chuckleslord 4 points 10 months ago

Well, I mean, they probably can, but team sports, ya know. We all do it, make bad things about the "other" and good things about "us". Just, not realizing that the people you stand with can do "bad", cause all humans are capable of doing "bad".

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago

You're right of course. I phrased that poorly and meant my interpretation of the meme, not the movies.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago

Lucas seems to grasp for that interpretation, but he's not politically savvy enough or a good enough writer to pull it off. Clone Wars fixes it.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 10 months ago

That was my interpretation

[–] [email protected] 11 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Every damn time

[–] Guajojo 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Wish there was a political memes instance

[–] Custoslibera 1 points 10 months ago

This is a political meme instance.
