I'm the original mod and creator of this 'sub lemmy' https://lemmy.ca/c/leaf_nation. The other mod requested approval from Lemmy.ca admins to take over the account in the past. However, he hasn't been active for at least 3 months in this instance, and he/she even added a bot to the account. I'm applying to have him removed as mod and additionally the bot. I'm here to stay. Would you please consent to this? Thank-you.

User @[email protected] account is super sus- came across them earlier today posting pro-russian propaganda in a weird little "geopolitics" sub they created, and their recent post history reeks of karma farming. User creation date looks legit but perhaps it is a compromised account.

I don't agree with them, but I don't think lemmy.ca should be in the business of deciding who and who can contribute here based on their political views. Plus it's an NHL community they're requesting, not a political one.

If it looks like a legit user then whatever. I was commenting here because I saw this post while looking at their account, and it looked so odd to me I suspected it might be a compromised account.

Unfortunately lemmy doesn't really give us a lot of tools to figure this out. It doesn't log any IPs, and we purposefully don't go above and beyond on logging from the server side.

Oh wow, good to know!

BTW What is your definition of Propaganda? Probably anything political that you don't agree with?

Baggins what's suspect about a geopolitical subreddit? I was on Reddit for over 13 years and posted the same information. I'm a geopolitical nerd who happens to like the TML. 🤦🏽‍♂️

Compromised? Based on what evidence?

Account created in 2021.. No activity until 5 days ago.. Recent posts consistent with karma farming behaviour.. Lots of weird pro-russia comments and posts.. Profile cover photo is random pic of a cat and dog from the web, not yours..

Like I said, if admins have a look they will have plenty of info to tell for sure what happened with your account.

Indeed, this account smells "manufactured". When asked for sources, they argue back saying "do your own damn research", hurls insults at strawmen or provides an unrelated article to throw off people, which is a massive red flag when it comes to trolls.

Hey, I'm old school and don't spoon-feed, Frankly I'm pissed that you call me a troll, when many of the folks complaining are exhibiting that behaviour. I probably know about this subject more than you ever will. I served 30 years in the UK Royal Marines — the latter 10 were in the intelligence field. I've done and been to places that if I told you about, you'd be shocked what is done in our government's name. Part of what I'm doing is a redemption because the masses have no idea about GeoPolitics. We're often the bad guys abroad Colonialism wasn't dead when I served.
