If only I could turn back time and have picked up all the AI modules from my computer science Bsc.. those salaries are ๐Ÿ‘€

OpenAI is saying they believe superintelligence "could arrive this decade" and "could lead to the disempowerment of humanity or even human extinction" but all we worry about is the salaries.

That's because it's mainly hype, just like how we'd all be in self-driving cars five years in the future (starting from 2016). Employers are having wet dreams about replacing labor and they'll pay top dollar for it.

OpenAI doomposting is a scam because...

  • making their AI look more dangerous also makes it look more competent, allowing them to fleece more money out of investors before everyone realizes shit doesn't work

Got it, thanks!

If they were truly concerned about those impacts they wouldn't be dedicating teams to making it happen.

Maybe they just want to avoid punishment by an omniscient AI? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roko%27s_basilisk

Hah, I didn't think of that level of planning.
