That's because it's mainly hype, just like how we'd all be in self-driving cars five years in the future (starting from 2016). Employers are having wet dreams about replacing labor and they'll pay top dollar for it.

OpenAI doomposting is a scam because...

making their AI look more dangerous also makes it look more competent, allowing them to fleece more money out of investors before everyone realizes shit doesn't work
