he might be a narcisist (i'm not a psychologist. where did you get licensed?), but i don't believe he's a criminal, and if he is, then the law is wrong. he's a journalist who speaks truth to power.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

he most certainly is not a journalist and he only speaks as much truth as is convenient.. the only truth he knows is the Julian Assange Saga..

[–] [email protected] -4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

he absolutely is a journalist, and, yea, after exposing the pentagon murdering journalists, he started having to consider where he would be safe and making sure not to have enemies on **all** sides.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

some people need to believe in him for some reason, i don't understand it

[–] t3h_fool 4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I don't know much about him. Can you give a link to some kind of summary of what he is about? I will also take any links from others as to why he is a criminal.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julian_Assange

this goes over the worst allegations. nothing is sugarcoated.

he rose to prominence when he released footage from chelsea manning showing the US intentionally firing on journalists. it's called "collateral murder".

wikileaks helped pioneer anonymous, encrypted leaking.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Well he raped 3 women in Sweden

[–] [email protected] -2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I don't believe that. if it were true, why would they drop the charges?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Because he fled to equador and the statute of limitations ran out while he was cowering there

[–] [email protected] -1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

why wouldn't Ecuador give him up? surely they have good relationships with EU/Sweden and also have laws against rape. there must be more to this story.

I just don't believe it's true.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I believe the three unrelated woman who independently accused him of the same exact thing within days of each other. They have no reason to lie. I have a feeling your mind is made up and nothing short of a video of Assange raping them is going to convince you. Since I don't have that video, I'm not going to bother trying.

[–] [email protected] -5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

>They have no reason to lie

you don't know that. it's not even a provable statement. but we can prove that the police changed one of the statements without the woman's permission.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

So your story is that three women who don't even know each other got together and were like "hey, let's accuse this dude of rape"? Maybe after he gets out he'll rape someone you care about

[–] [email protected] -4 points 10 months ago (1 children)

>So your story is that three women who don’t even know each other got together and were like “hey, let’s accuse this dude of rape”? Maybe after he gets out he’ll rape someone you care about

no, you're arguing with a strawman and wishing rape on people so maybe you should back the fuck off

[–] [email protected] 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

you're arguing with a strawman

It's not a strawmanning if it's actually your argument, and it sure seems like that's the case

wishing rape on people

I didn't wish anything, I pointed out the potential consequences of setting a rapist free simply because you like his website. If I had a wish it would be that Assange is convicted, jailed, and rehabilitated before he rapes again.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I think he's been jailed long enough

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

He's served 0 days for the 3 rapes he committed. I do not believe that is long enough. The women he violated have been deprived of justice.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

he hasn't been convicted of anything, but has been locked away for a decade. that's long enough

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

He wasn't convicted because he fled and hid out in an embassy. Then he burned his bridges there by being an obnoxious piece of shit and they handed him over to the British. Everything bad that's happened to Assange is his own fault. If anything he got off easy, never faced any consequences for the 3 women he raped.

[–] [email protected] -3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

you are victim blaming. he is a journalist persecuted for his journalism.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

He's a rapist who fled justice like a coward. I dont really give a shit what happens to him now. I'll save my sympathy for Snowden and Manning, who never raped anyone.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

>He’s a rapist who fled justice like a coward.

no, he isn't.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

A serial rapist is still a rapist

[–] [email protected] -2 points 10 months ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

Then what's your story for how three different women with no connection to each other all ended filing police reports accusing him of rape? Also, who flees charges they're not guilty of?

[–] [email protected] -2 points 10 months ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Well, I believe the women, and I believe someone who did not rape 3 people would want to exonerate himself rather than hide out in the equadorian embassy for years. Assange is a piece of shit and I'd gladly sacrifice a few paintings to know he died in prison. It's better than a rapist deserves.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 10 months ago (1 children)

locking people in cages is wrong

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] -1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

i don't think there needs to be any kind of scale. both are bad.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

There's kind of a a scale. Those women didn't do anything to deserve being raped. Assange, on the other hand, raped 3 people.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 10 months ago

i presume innocence.
