Cubans in Florida pushing for Trump was not on my bingo card, for sure.
I also remember seeing “general chat lobby” spammers switching from the boilerplate racism tropes to Portuguese and learning about Brazilian troll farms.
A lot of Miami-based Cubans are VERY anti anything socialist/communist. All you’ve really got to do is say you’re fighting “those socialists trying to take over” and it’s a tragically easy way to win that vote.

the biggest flaw in communist theory is the "temporary dictatorship" part...
it turns out, temporary dictators never willingly stop being dictators...
I agree. Any transition away from capitalism should not involve a dictator.
Welcome to democratic socialism, friend.
The "dictatorship of the proletariat" is just a stupid name for the transitional period. It's not supposed to be an actual dictatorship, but unfortunately Marx was a little drama queen from time to time...
No, Marx was right; there's no way to do it without a dictatorship. There is no universe in which everyone miraculously agrees on how things should be run, and that means that coercion is necessary which in turn means that there has to be centralized and concentrated power, ie; an authoritarian dictatorship.
The experiment has been run before and we know how it ends.
I think there is a universe where groups of people in specific regions all agree enough on how things should be run. And then, those groups have enough success to help convince other groups and regions to agree. We kind of see this happening now, with countries that have adopted Socialist policies setting examples.
Murdered by red fascists.
They fled from a country that’s been communist for over 60 years and they’re not big fans of communism you say? Weird.
Actually it's because they're stupid and watch Fox News and haven't read enough theory
A lot of the established Cuban community in Miami are the children of wealthy Cubans who fled during the revolution. So yeah they fled communism but maybe not for the reason you meant.
Yeah there's a reason they fled...
The country hadn't been communist for 60 years when they fled though, they weren't fleeing poverty. They were mostly pro-Batista affluent people and corrupt government officials who went into exile in Florida expecting to return when Castro was overthrown. Castro was never overthrown, so they stayed.
I witnessed the dangers of authoritarism, so I'm going to vote for... the most authoritarian douche that I can find"
Honestly I think it's time to stop pretending they are poor refugees and treat them as the fascist assholes they really are.
They fled Cuba after Bastilles fall and Cubas oppression from the communists so it makes some, unfortunate, sense that they support the orange man.
It was Batista, not Bastille, which is the famous French prison.
You mean they were fired out of Cuba on Ballistas?
Eh, close enough
