Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.
The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:
Rules
Rule 1- No brigading.
**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **
YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.
Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.
**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **
Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.
Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.
Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding META posts.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.
If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.
Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.
Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.
Let everyone have their own content.
:::spoiler Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

Yeah, well it's only a matter of time before the mods and administrators turn this into a sterile, uninteresting, unfunny, sad hellscape of small people banning users who don't agree with every facet of their personal self-delusion.
I've had 4 posts deleted since joining. One was for causing offence. I asked "Are Brits the Americans of Europe". "Dumb, loud and obnoxious". I'm British, I was obviously being tongue in cheek. But I hadn't realised just how fucking sensitive the Internet became in the past decade.
Also they were heavily down-voted so why do they need deleting? Downvotes were always meant to be user moderation, not disagreement. But now everyone runs to the mods to delete EVERY little fucking thing.
removed (food) and fag (cigarette) get you censored and banned on numerous communities even though it's an American slur and not relevant in every country.
People under 30 have been put through so much and have been allowed no power or say in anything. Unfortunately, when they do have some power, instead of wielding it discretely and with restraint, they go hog-wild and become a totalitarian shitbrat.
We're all fucked, bro.
Only if beancounters and investors start making administrative decisions.
Incorrect. I made a comment emphasizing empathy for trans people, and because I referred to it as a mental condition often resulting from trauma (WHICH IT IS, ACCORDING TO SCIENCE). "He" (lol lemmy misgendered him) got the comment removed. You need not actually insult or say anything offensive to be reprimanded, only engage in wrongthink. I've always thought the ability to block a user you disagree with is enough, but no- dissenting opinion (even if based on logic and fact) must be silenced.
Fortunately there isn’t just one set of mods or admins. And the ability to federate or defederate presents a lot of options.
I don't understand all of that "federated" stuff, but I'll be shocked if my comment above survives 24 hrs. The bullshit thought police are already here. Who'da thought grown-ass men wearing thigh-high coding socks would be so sensitive?
The federated bit just means that there are many Lemmy servers run by many people. That, plus the fact that Lemmy is free & open source, means that no single entity has control over all communities, like with commercial products. If there’s a server that people have a problem with, they can “defederate” which is basically blocking them. I think hexbear is a popular example of a server (a lemmy instance) that has been defederated/blocked by a bunch of other servers.
Have you had mod issues in this specific community, or all across lemmy? Just curious.
I might need to get some of those socks as a joke, lol.
riiiiiiiiiiight ... as a joke.
A joke for those around me. But secretly… it’s still real to me damn it!
