You know what the difference is between a million and a billion? Roughly a billion.
Likewise, do you know what the difference in power between the Hamas terrorists, let alone the innocent victims in Palestine, and one of the most advanced militaries in the world? Roughly one of the most advanced militaries in the world.
TL;DR: To show this as two evenly matched brawlers with the exact same equipment isn't just an oversimplification. It's a gross distortion of reality bordering on gaslighting.
It should also have the Hama's terrorist hiding behind the Palestine character, laughing and enjoying the situation. And Iran in the background with popcorn like the USA
Palestine is getting beat up from both sides.
I generally agree with you here, but you know this is a meme in a meme sub, right?
Yeah, but a political memes sub. Besides, propaganda (whether intentional or not) still works no matter how it's delivered.
You took the meme as illustrating the size and strength of the 2 forces? I think you might be creating context where it doesn't exist.
Propaganda, by definition, is meant to make you feel or believe a narrative. Equivalence of force is a bit of a stretch here, isn't it?
Distortion by omission is still distortion. A political cartoon that shows the conflict as a battle of equals lies by omission whether on purpose or not.
Not really, no. There are many ways to implant false realities in the minds of people, and it's most effective when they don't notice.
Giving the false impression of it being a fair fight makes the genocidal actions of Israel seem justified on the grounds of "Israel has the right to defend itself"
You're not wrong about how propaganda works. Like... at all. I just don't see it here.
Kind of forgetting the rest of the Muslim world that wants Palestine obliterated and all jews murdered. It's literally what they say out loud. It's part of their strictly adhered to religious doctrine. Now tell me what a Muslim theocracy would do if Palestine was obliterated. Would they welcome the progressives and LGBTQ+ crowd with open arms? I honestly want to know your thoughts.
And this justifies a genocide how?
Hostile rhetoric can be dangerous, sure. Your people being systematically and deliberately eradicated by one of the most advanced militaries in the world is much worse.
Palestine IS being obliterated. Israel isn't.
Also, the fact that no theocracy of any religion is progressive and accepting of LGBTQ+ people doesn't excuse any war crimes on Israel's part.
With leading questions like those, I kinda doubt it..
Let's not strawman and say I'm excusing war crimes. Hamas and religious extremism are the enemies here. Innocents, non-combatants should always be left unmolested.
However, the fact that you call the Islamic agenda of exterminating the Jews "hostile rhetoric" is so naive. It's basically ignoring what every Islamic state actually does and says. You're dismissive of one of the most important facets of the entire conflict.
So you're willing to admit that includes Israeli state-supported "settler" violence too, right?
What else would you call exaggerating the threat to Israel in an effort to justify the many atrocities of the IDF?
Yes, but that enemy is so ridiculously weaker than the IDF that it's not so much a war as a campaign of genocide. It's like if the US went to war against Rhode Island, except Rhode Island was cut off from the rest of the world and vital resources such as food, medicine, water, electricity and fuel.
Is there any real risk of them actually making that happen? No. Is there any risk of Hamas making that happen? HELL NO.
I'm not ignoring it, I'm just not blowing it out of proportion and pretending that the systematic slaughter of all Palestinians is in any way justified because of it or that the slaughter won't make that WORSE.
See above.
