People say this everywhere, but I’m not seeing it. Say something that disagrees with whatever the main opinion is and you’ll be downvoted and called an idiot.

That's just how forums work. It's a collection of people who want to discuss topic A. If you say "I don't like topic A" it seems out of place.

I’m fine with being downvoted and being called an idiot. I’m not fine with being reported and then being banned, which is what that other site turned into.

I've actually had very pleasant disagreements with folks. Even some admitting they were incorrect on something and not being given grief over it.

I definitely feel like there's a more open discussion environment here.

We all have different experiences though I suppose.
