World News
A community for discussing events around the World
Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

OP do you ever take a break? You've posted 40 posts on here within the last 24 hours alone, predominantly if not entirely pro-Israel at a quick glance. Are you an actual programmed bot or just generally obsessed?
Edit: 41 posts now. You just posted yet another article in the time it took me to write this comment.
It's not even good propaganda, it should be obvious to any functional human that criminals hiding behind pediatric hospitals is not a good excuse to bomb pediatric hospitals.
He also posted 900 comments and 70 articles in less than 3 months. Definitely pro-Israeli bot. How can we report this bot/person to get a permanent ban?
900 comments and 70 posts in 3 months isn't impossible for a motivated person. Not sure OP is, of course, bug numbers alone are not evidence enough. Do they engage with commenters on their posts?
Yes, not impossible but if all your online activity on Lemmy is in this conflict becomes a bit suspicious if you are genuine or just a bot and don't forget that we already live in the era of AI, where you can easily create a bot that can generate favorable opinions for your cause tilting the public opinion. So I would not be surprised at all if that's the case too.
Just looked over his profile. I don’t think he’s a bot, just a CHUD.
LOL…
Let’s all wave to @TokenBoomer with 310 posts and more than 3500 comments in the span of about 3 months.
Shall we all report him too, because he is a bot?
Guess I'm a bot as well. Which sucks, because I didn't know.
It’s an honor to serve in the bot brigade with you. Our first mission: Touch grass.
Hey, I’m famous mah!
Edit: I post to create engagement and content. Because I think decentralized platforms like this are a valuable resource that should be nurtured and cherished. Also, I’m old and don’t get out much. I don’t want anyone banned. It’s an opportunity to educate readers on this conflict and give context and history to the situation.
Two minutes later and I'm here to update you it's 42 posts now. More news ~~at 11~~ in another minute or so probably.
Thank you for this comment, I immediately blocked the user.
I’m all fine for news regards both sides but definitely do not want propaganda.
I, personally, appreciate this new aspect, as reading Lemmy in last three weeks became a hard pro-Hamas delusional left-fest.
People posting articles from israeli sources aren't the problem. It's the botlike behavior from OP. I actually counted the posts he posted in the last 24 hours after coming across a bunch of his low-effort posts multiple times in a row. It's probably added up to closer to 50 posts at this point.
I'm sure you'd realize what the problem was if someone made a pro-Palestine bot and started spamming the sub with a bunch of articles as well. It's annoying when one account does it. It becomes impossible to deal with when more accounts start doing it.
Half the articles aren't even current. Some of them are over a month old. It's just burying the actual good posts under a pile of old shit.
If you see messages supporting the palestinians and you read support for hamas, that's your delusion and your problem.
I’m not pro-Hamas and I haven’t met anyone that is, not that they don’t exist. Pro-Palestine is not Pro-Hamas.
You're like the glass onion of projection, layered and transparent
