Have a Discord of close friends of mine I've had for 10+ years, all very smart wonderful people. While I'm definitely "the fire guy," they are all decent with money. Around September of last year a few of them were really getting nervous about putting more money in the market with all the discussion of a recession. I threw a GCal notification to see what the market was doing in a year but couldn't help but check it early...it's up like 18% since then. Don't try and time the market folks, stick to the strategy

I was just thinking of all of the people even like 3-4 months ago that were pulling back on investments. Gotta have a plan and stick to it…

It was a shock to me too, hasn't 'felt' like a 18% year and maybe it will reverse by September. Doesn't matter to me, just keep on investing, taking the emotion and mental wrangling out of it makes it much easier

That's a great reminder, be greedy when others are fearful. This time last year I ended a sabbatical to work for another year, and I don't regret it at all.

One of my favorite mantras, and the corollary of "be fearful when others are greedy" doesn't mean I stop investing, I just resist the urge to jump into the exciting "opportunities" that come up like NFTs or Crypto, just stay the course
