1. Follow the site-wide rules
- Instance-wide TOS: https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/
- Lemmy code of conduct: https://join-lemmy.org/docs/code_of_conduct.html
2. Be civil
- Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
- Do not harrass or attack users for any reason. This includes using blanket terms, like "every user of thing".
- Don't get baited into back-and-forth insults. We are not animals.
- Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
- Bigotry will not be tolerated.
- These rules are somewhat loosened when the subject is a public figure. Still, do not attack their person or incite harrassment.
3. Post Linux-related content
- Including Unix and BSD.
- Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of
sudo
in Windows. - No porn. Even if you watch it on a Linux machine.
4. No recent reposts
- Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, <loves/tolerates/hates> systemd, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.

I use Linux since 2007 and never had any issues regarding sound.
Seriously OP, get new material.
Personally I have had plenty of issues, and find this meme very relatable.
Meanwhile I had crackling audio after resume the last like 5 or so times I resumed my steam deck from sleep.
Sorry this meme wasn't relevant to you, I guess?
I landed on my current distro because it was the only one that mapped my speakers correctly. Several others just ignored the satellites or recognized them as a single speaker.
On Manjaro it's a bit too quiet, but I can live with that fine.
"It works on my computer" is a meme for a reason.
Hmm I remember you being really angry at Linux in general and tagged you as such. Interesting here you are claiming to use Linux.
Iβve used Linux for about 15 years and I hate the shit out of it. Iβll keep using it though if it means less Windows.
You are a conflicted individual it would seem
Arenβt we all?
I was already using Linux when you "tagged" me, unless we met in high school. That'd be why I have anything to say on the subject at all.
Also, I wouldn't say angry. "Remarkably frustrated", definitely. "Wondering if all the hours troubleshooting stuff I wasn't able to fix were worth it" every now and then.
Also, also, I used to think the "we should improve society somewhat" meme was a parody of a form of speech nobody really uses, but here you are.
You can ignore that the context of that conversation was window vs Linux and you were arguing people stay on windows, but I won't π€·ββοΈ
I would say I was not, because I probably wasn't (more likely I was arguing that Linux is not suitable for/about to achieve mass adoption). I barely remember the conversation you're talking about, though, so I won't.
I'm sorry to say this, but you're paying way more attention to me than I am to you.
Yeah I am so obsessed, adding a tag in my app so that I can properly see the context angry ragers come from.
Wait, you actually did that? Is that a thing? I thought you were talking figuratively about the "tagging".
That's... actually disturbing and extremely weird. I hadn't blocked anyone here yet, or even considered it, but you may have found the line.
It's a basic feature in multiple apps. Not a big deal at all but lol freak out like you do in your Linux rage fests
Yeeah, I'm thinking we're done here.
lol ok. Well this is a feature that has been around my whole 1.5 years on the platform so maybe don't get so weird about it.
Last time I used Linux (2 months ago maybe, bazzite) audio kept turning itself down to like 5% volume. Turning it up would instantly make it go down again if I let go of the volume slider
Were you trying to set firefox's volume? I've encountered that when I forgot I set the volume of a youtube video from in the video player. For whatever reason Firefox implements that functionality by repeatedly overwriting it's own volume in pulseaudio/pipewire.
Did you had back then a sound card with hardware mixing (Aureal Vortex <3)?
Playing multiple audio streams was hard.
