The real crime here is using Excel as a database.
Excel databases are totally fine if the only reader is human
Why do you have to use fancy stuff like Excel when notepad will do?
It's a power move. You let them see you've brought a licensed copy of office 2007 to the game, and the dm immediately knows you are not to be fucked with. Unless they've got a bigger and better spreadsheet of course.
