In Mastodon, post urls have the structure

<domain>/@<username>/<post id on your instance>

For your instance, and

<domain>/@<username>@<user instance>/<post id on origin instance>

for federated posts. Which makes it really easy to find a post even if it's not on your instance, I use an add-on called Mastodon Redirector that makes this even easier.

But on Lemmy it is just <domain>/<post id on your instance> no matter if it's a local post or not.

So if I have a post url on a different instance, say https://lemm.ee/post/49270741 how do I get to it on lemmy.world? (without just searching for it.)

pasting the url into your local lemmy/mbin search box causes the system to pull it and render it locally.
