I feel like, if one hasn't seen this comic before, that it would be helpful, somehow to have an indication that these are indeed Bed Bugs. And yet this comic has been reposted so many times that the vast majority already know.
Counterpoint: The punchline is so blindingly obvious that explaining the joke would ruin it
I'm sort of amused to think they had been calling themselves "Bedbugs" all along, but never really having any direction in life until this very moment. I'm not a great historian, but I seem to recall in some previous post of this ancient comic the word bedbug was in there, somewhere.
Never seen it before, and I got it as bed bugs straight away. It's in the punchline.
