That is a distinction without a difference.
No it's not. People won't participate in a system they feel only exists to harm them. If i am at a bar and one bartender says they are gonna kill me if i dont tip 50% and the other bar tender says that they'll only rough me up a bit if i I don't tip 30%, not getting a drink from either.
People would rather not participate instead of legitimize a system that only does them harm.

I agree with most everything you said.
Except, the planet will be fine. We're killing our ability to live on it for sure but the earth will go on even if it's just microbes for a few million years
Yeah cool Malcolm, it's been 30 years, you don't need to give this speech every time uses it as shorthand for "in the context of our continued survival on it".
It's an important distinction, imo. "Everything dies" vs "humans die"
Luckily the truth is pretty far in the middle.
