Devops is also usually more dev than ops, and it shows in the availability numbers.

One of my managers supported the idea that it's better to come to devOps from a Dev perspective than an Ops perspective; just because the coding is cleaner and easier to manage with that strong coding background. Also, it's how devops started: we were doing rudimentary devops - or what Ansible is capable of - back in 2002, long before they even fabricated the term 'devops'.
