Be the asteroid you wish to see in the Yucatan.
You're one of today's lucky 10000!!!
Be the thing that drives them to extinction. Way to make me explain the joke there buddy. Literal interpretation is not the only interpretation. Vote. Organize. Inform. Educate. Have compassion when those in your life change their minds.
I... I don't know how to explain metaphors using crayon. So have an upvote.
I applaud your commitment to positivity!
Ok. I wasn't going to respond again, but it seems you have a real issue with figurative language.
The original comment mentioned wanting "these dinosaurs" to go extinct, referring to the outdated, controversial politicians who say anything to get attention. I extended the metaphor by suggesting people should be the “asteroid” that drives these “dinosaurs” to extinction, referencing Gandhi's philosophy in a humorous way.
When I say "be an asteroid," I’m obviously not advocating for the extinction of all life or suggesting people should commit violence. If that’s what you took from it, that interpretation reflects more on you than it does on me.
The Gandhi paraphrase I used is "Be the change you wish to see in the world," which aligns with his teachings of non-violent protest.
The point is simple: if you don’t like these people being in power, take action—vote, organize, inform, and educate. Change comes through engagement, not literal destruction. If that’s too hard to grasp, then perhaps this discussion isn’t for you.
Removed, civility
I don't care.
What a nice person
I know what you showed me
A comment likened Republicans to dinosaurs, and being eager for them to be extinct, since dinosaurs are extinct. One possibility is saying they are mostly old and waiting for them to die, another is that they have outdated ideas, even the ones not that old, and to go extinct just means they don't have power and don't matter.
Dinosaurs were made extinct by an Asteroid in the Yucatan. So to contribute to that latter half, work toward making them irrelevant, voting and chosing your media engagements appropriately.
At this point, I would not presume someone is advocating literal lethal violence against the entire GOP, if nothing else that is wildly infeasible and as it stands much more reasonable actions are available to minimize their influence..
Thanks. I just didn't get it. Felt cryptic to me but I probably also was just tired. "Be the meteor" just had a pretty messed up sound to me.
Woah, woah, woah!…
One of those is the natural outcome of forces set in motion—and the other killed poor innocent dinosaurs.
