I get this message multiple times when up or downvoting. Is this wefwef or a lemmy problem?

I tried firefox and fennec but both of them are bit of sloppy in terms of chrome. So which browser do you recommend for wefwef web app?

153

So I'm using AdGuard for blocking apps and wefwef does not work until I disable it.

Love the app; it’s a solid Apollo replacement. Is it possible to please have the option to change the default feed when opening from Home to Local or All as well? Thank you!

Currently it defaults to hot for me, looked through all I could and couldn’t find anything. Any help/info would be greatly appreciated!

Is it possible to transfer favorite communities from an account on one server to another? Say for example I'd like to have an alt with the same favorites on another server for a backup. Is this possible with wefwef or other means?

Looking to get my main off lemmy.world to help load balance, but I don't want to refavorite everything; if I could somehow keep them in sync that would be ideal.

Using Firefox on Win10 pc, the usual add ons. Errors when upvoting, when accessing posts from inbox, when expanding comment trees.

Errors repeatable until page loads either by refreshing or pressing back. Once the page has loaded without an error everything seems to work fine, up and down votes, expanding comment trees, etc all work even after navigating away from post and returning.

Happy to provide any other information that helps diagnose things.

Thank you. I really like wefwef!

Saw that this might be a safari specific issue on iOS. For those not familiar, the bug causes scrolling to freeze when swiping back from a post. Usually takes 2-3 seconds for it to unfreeze or you can unfreeze by interacting with a button which causes it to unfreeze.

This will probably be of limited usefulness, but some people were asking about the export file. All it contains is favorites, filters, and a list of all your subreddits. Once you import it into wefwef, you can then click on each sub to get a list of similar communities which you can then manually subscribe to, one-by-one.

If you can get a list of your subs, you can create your own file to import into wefwef. On desktop you can highlight/copy all the subs from the sidebar.

Tip: ask ChatGPT to format the list for you if you can't write a macro:

Below is a list of my subreddits. Please format like this (remove the "r/"): "gaming","pics"

Subreddit Icon
r/AdviceAnimals
Subreddit Icon
r/AnarchyChess
Subreddit Icon
r/announcements
Subreddit Icon
r/apexlegends
Subreddit Icon
r/arresteddevelopment
Subreddit Icon
r/AskReddit
Subreddit Icon
r/askscience
Subreddit Icon
r/AteTheOnion
Subreddit Icon
r/aww

***
Here is the formatted list of your subreddits:

"gaming","pics","AdviceAnimals","AnarchyChess","announcements","apexlegends","arresteddevelopment","AskReddit","askscience","AteTheOnion","aww"

Below are the entire contents of the json file (with most subs removed so you can add your own). I didn't have any filters. Copy this into a text file and save it with the extension ".json", and import into wefwef.

{"global":{"favorites":["pics","gaming"],"keyword_filters":[],"distance_scrolled_meters":0},"Your_Name":{"subscribed_subreddits":["videos","movies","technology","todayilearned","gaming","pics"],"subreddit_filters":[]}}

First, features...

Swipe to hide!

This is a huge feature that has a lot of effort put into making it work flawlessly, even with hundreds of thousands of hidden items. So swipe away! All data is persisted locally per account. In the future, we'll add hide on scroll, and it should work really well with our performant storage implementation. Shoutout to burakcan for all your hard work on this :)

Comment dialogs now ask for confirmation before nuking your data

I can't tell you how much I hate software that loses your progress. When the new comment dialog was implemented, I though there would be about 5 people using wefwef, but now there are tons of you!

Care was taken to ensure you can continue to swipe away the comment dialog if no new content has been entered - for example, if you accidentally swipe to reply.

Care was also taken to confirm before closing a tab or navigating on desktop devices! So please try it out and let me know what you think!

Like browsing NSFW on iOS? This release is for you

Blurred items should be a LOT more snappy, now that blurring is being performed by the GPU.

MORE SPEED

More performance improvements thanks to a code refactor on how we present commonly used dialogs :)

Double tap search shortcut!

No longer reach all the way up to that search bar. 😎

ARM builds

I love seeing all the self-hosting! Now you can easily self-host wefwef on even more devices!

Special thanks to all contributors!

Crazybus, burakcan and aidankinzett! Thank you! 💙

Don’t know what this button is called, but I think it’s where you subscribe/block/post, and it’s not working. Posting this on Liftoff because I can’t do it on wefwef right now.

I’ve tried turning it off and on again (reinstalled, etc).

Just me?

Please let me make the text bigger. Yes, I know it gets quite large but I need it probably 50%-75% bigger to read easily.

For anyone mourning the loss of Apollo, I can't say enough about how great @wefwef feels as a lemmy alternative. Especially as a web application its very well done.

Just submitted a draft PR for importing your subs from Reddit -- if you're interested in migrating request an export of all your data here (takes a few weeks) https://www.reddit.com/settings/data-request

Boost for reddit fanboy here, never used apollo. Not only does wefwef feel the most put together so far, but I love that it's open source and can be self hosted. Can't wait for an option for an android theme so it feels more native. After that all that's missing is the ability to skip through comment threads

One gesture that I'm missing is bring able to tap the top for the page to return to the top. I use this alllll time. Could wefwef support this?

The post contained one comment that has been deleted by its author. I‘ve seen posts with negative upvote/downvote ratio before of course, but the comment one was a surprise and got a slight chuckle out of me

How would I self-host wefwef with a reverse proxy? Is it possible to point wefwef to a subfolder such as https://domain.tld/wefwef

I have a VPS that hosts other applications with docker using LinuxServerIO's swag (their version of nginx) so does anyone have an nginx config I could modify to work for me?

I think an important functionality would be able to search with a prefixed exclamation mark to be able to specify an unfederated community, such as [email protected]

Im still learning the ropes here but I think that’s an important thing to be able to do from wefwef?

The amount of comments I’ve accidentally swiped away from and had to retype because I’m trying to look at the original post for reference is getting quite frustrating. This is far and away my favorite lemmy app but we really need this functionality for it to be a true successor to Apollo. Apollo’s UI was fantastic but we also need the utility of Apollo.

171

Or atleast add an option to refresh without losing your spot. Loving the app!

172

Not sure if the feature has been requested but I'd love to filter some out if possible!

The only way to free it up is to pull up from the bottom as if I’m force closing the app but then not follow through. This has been going on for the past few days.

Of the three different apps I use to access Lemmy, this is the only one that does this- so it’s not my phone.

174

Out of curiosity would it be possible to add an auto update for the pwa instead having to go to settings --> check for updates --> update ?

175

What is the reason that wefwef requires a photo for a post? Is it just me?

I was trying to post at „Serien“ in Feddit. On Lemmy via browser it works perfectly without.
