Does anyone know where I can create an account for PeerTube and where?

I’m thinking of setting up a PeerTube instance for game-related content. A bit like tilvids.com, but for gaming.

Do you think that it might be of some interest?

In this case, it's one specific channel: https://diode.zone/c/andybalaam_lectures/videos?s=1. That is, [email protected]. It's run by @[email protected] / @[email protected]

AFAICT, federation hasn't been working from this channel to lemmy for ~3 months, for all the instances I checked (perhaps a particular lemmy version broke things?).

EG:

By comparison:

I'm not following anything else on peertube so I don't know how common this is (and I couldn't find anything on the GitHub issues), but different behaviour on mastodon and lemmy would superficially indicate that it's a lemmy problem, which would be a shame given that lemmy is much better for consuming peertube.

I host my own peertube instance and deeply believe in the concept but I have trouble staying off youtube since the content I found so far on pt isnt enough for me.

On yt, I mostly watch gamers nexus and gameranx, both for their chill demeanor and dry humour but also high quality editing.

On pt I have found TheLinuxProject which is awesome but thats mostly it.

Does anyone know high quality general tech/gaming related news channels I could watch?

Also, in case you‘d like to watch my videos (minecraft, phasmophobia and tech tutorials).

I want to upload some videos to Peertube to share here in Lemmy, but I'm not sure how to find an instance where I can upload them.

I don't want to be 'picky' since I know I'm using another person's hardware that costs money to maintain, but the majority of Peertube instances I had found the users can't upload videos at all, or have a ridiculous minimum of like 25 MBs per file... And I had found other instances where the user can upload anything he wants, but how do I know that instance will prevail? I mean I had accounts in multiple Peertube instances that after some time are unreachable, it literally gives you an nginx or 'page not found' error...

I know I can host it myself and that's the best option, but I don't have the knowledge or hardware to do it.

I'm looking for one that's for Android and on F-droid

I want to start uploading a handful of retro tech videos, revolving around old media formats and video gaming platforms.

For the life of me I can't find an instance that would be a good fit, and has open registration plus uploads enabled.

As a last ditch effort, I'd like to ask if anyone else has any leads?

The web interface freezes often for me, so I usually use mpv like mpv https://spacepub.space/w/7XEaaDCywRALEbT64Q758T, but it takes around 1-3 minutes for mpv to actually load the video. Is there a way for me to reduce this long wait time?

I have plenty of technical peertubers on TILVids, but I'm interested in finding any fun gaming peertubers if anyone can make any recommendations. I've started posting some myself, but I don't exactly want to watch my own stuff :-D .

I can't reach tilvids.com anymore. What are you supposed to do in such a case?

PeerTube is a decentralized and federated alternative to YouTube. The goal of PeerTube is not to replace YouTube but to offer a viable alternative using the strength of ActivityPub and P2P protocols.

Being built on ActivityPub means PeerTube is able to be part of a bigger social network, the Fediverse (the Federated Universe). On the other hand, P2P technologies help PeerTube to solve the issue of money, inbound with all streaming platform : With PeerTube, you don't need to have a lot of bandwidth available on your server to host a PeerTube platform because all users (which didn't disable the feature) watching a video on PeerTube will be able to share this same video to other viewers.

If you are curious about PeerTube, I can't recommend you enough to check the official website to learn more about the project. If after that you want to try to use PeerTube as a content creator, you can try to find a platform available there to register or host yourself your own PeerTube platform on your own server.

The development of PeerTube is actually sponsored by Framasoft, a french non-for-profit popular educational organization, a group of friends convinced that an emancipating digital world is possible, convinced that it will arise through actual actions on real world and online with and for you!

Framasoft is also involved in the development of Mobilizon, a decentralized and federated alternative to Facebook Events and Meetup.

If you want to contribute to PeerTube, feel free to:

Sorry if this is asked a lot but I'm looking for a peertube instance to mirror my youtube videos to.

I upload a mix of videos about games, dev logs, music, and occasional random stuff I made (including ytps). So a general purpose instance with longevity would be ideal. Thanks!

Hey everyone, I saw this post about peertube channels being able to be seen as communities on lemmy, but I noticed that the comments don't show on the community post.

I was wondering if anyone else was tracking anything about this already, or any other peertube to lemmy integrations, like the embedded video playback from peertube (new feature) or peertube's remote account features (comment using any fediverse account) not working with Lemmy users (at least not me right now).

Matrix chat about it

Update 01: Being tracked here on Lemmy's repo. Still interested in everyone's thoughts.

I am thinking of recording a series of episodes where I try to beat factorio with the smallest possible ore settings. It would be vanilla factorio.

In this video I show what the voice recording might sound like, but I need your feedback if this is pleasant to watch/hear etc.

This is the first time of me doing anything like this.
