Is it an incoming begonia flower? Most of the plant is in rough shape, and I think it came with pests I didn't know about 😑

What is this plant? (sh.itjust.works)

I bought it last year and didn’t get its name. It blooms then dies, then repeats next season

The front right and back left are probably gonna be removed anyways for some other plants in the next week. Just curious and experimenting more.

Reducing the light seems to have made it happy though.

Tent was getting full. I wish I had a good south facing window, but this is west facing and gets atleast 5 hours of direct light still, so should be good for now.

Tomatoes, cucumbers, paprika, cannabis, brassicas, etc.

I think it was partially from having the lights on too strong, fixed it the other day, may have been too late.

Thoughts?

sad tomato starts (lemmy.world)

Started tomatoes and peppers in my starter box a few weeks ago. Peppers are fine but the tomatoes not so much. Can anybody tell me what's going on here?

I've frequently read that a good rule of thumb for many vegetables is that plant starts are ready for transplanting into the ground once they've "developed their second set of true leaves." However I'm unclear as to whether this means "once the second set of true leaves begin to emerge" or "once the second set of true leaves have grown to full size" or something in between.

I usually let the weather dictate when I plant out, but this spring has been mild enough that I've found myself with a huge window of opportunity. When do you all know your starts are ready to go in the ground?

Garlic has taken off like whoa. Pak choi is starting to like the weather. Broccoli and kale joining in. Still skeptical of the lettuce tower.

Still got a ways to go til everything is in the ground, but all the ground is ready now. LFG

Another month or so before they go outside. I’ll pot up if needed and they can go by a window if the tent gets too full as well.

I think the lights too strong for the aero tomatoes, so I turned off the COB LEDs, but that means these will get leggier unless I lift them up higher.

Jealous, want to start at least getting some going since I can only do so much before it bothers me.

Want to expand along the fence, can see the lumber for it, just need the stone and dirt.

Title. My bin overwintered pretty well in my Zone 6a garage, so I'm a happy worm farmer.

Figure this was a good place to ask.

My whole block has a horrible wasp issue. All my neighbors seem to just be killing them as they see them with raid or something, which hasent helped much.

My plan was to use a vinegar/water mix with a few drops of peppermint oil and go around the house and spray it in the areas i cant have them for immediate action. But i also hear you can plant some herbs like lemon balm and mint to help keep them away from certain areas. I'm not sure how true this is so I figured id ask.

I already have some lavender, lemond balm, and catmint plants i can move around.

P.S. i know they're necessary and good to have around, but my 2 year old is allergic and loves to play in the yard.

Mix of melons, peppers and tomatoes. Not expecting all to live and some to be culled, I don’t have space for 12 tomatoes and 9 peppers in the garden, but the best will make the cut.

Hello, I'm thinking of trying pallet collars for growing peppers this summer. A single collar is 20cm (8 inches) in height, do you think that's deep enough?

My spring starters are also starting to sprout! Been ~6 days in the veg tent with the heatmat and tap water

Hello everyone! What are some fast growing leafy plants that could extend from wooden supports every 4 Meters or so? I'm looking to make a pretty long natural walkway with some sort of shade overhead. I think fast growing plants are the best option. Is there something leafy enough to cross 4 meters?

I'm in a wet temperate climate.

I marked it purple and hope to keep it alive but even my neighbor said its old.

Would you keep it? I am planning to keep it or is it really too old?

I've had a few pepper volunteers come up in my seed starts. They're happy little accidents, at least for the time being. Hopefully they wind up producing. Past results have been mixed, but I have the space so I separated them into their own containers.

I have no idea why, but my pepper leaves always turn black under my grow lights. They flip to green once they're outdoors.

I think this is really two questions in one.

First, would you expect Austrian Winter Pea to be winter killed in Zone 6? Maybe I chose a bad cover crop.

Second, now that these things weren't winter killed, what should I do to kill them? I did cut some off at ground level, but it looks like they have leaves all the way down so I'm wary that they will grow back.

Thanks!
