Also known as the "organ piece that the TRUE C64 ENTHUSISTS will ask for their funeral service".

...I'm not saying it's going to happen NOW to you PERSONALLY. But I do think you should mention this to your next of kin. Memento mori.

I am not affiliated with this title in any way. I am just sharing it out of appreciation for fine work and in the hope that someone here may be interested.

If you have a vintage joystick that you used to use on your original C64 and would like to game with it on VICE or TheC64Mini, check this out! Not too long ago, I bought myself the D-SUB9 USB joystick adapter, from Retronic Design (based here, in Canada).

With this device, I can play my favorite C64 games on my PC (using VICE) or my TheC64Mini using my favorite joystick, the Wico TheBOSS.

I'm really glad it works so well. Some games I just can't play very well without using TheBOSS… keyboard keys and TheC64Joystick are just not good enough. The game, “Aliens The Video Game” is one of them. I just can't get by the first stage (the flying down to the planet surface) with using a keyboard on VICE; and I'm not much better with TheC64Joystick. So, again, it was a very satisfying moment for me this afternoon when I made it through that stage on the first try, with TheBOSS. In the words of George Costanza, “I'm back, BABY!”

I go into a bit further detail about it on my blog post here: https://www.my64.in.nf/doku.php?id=blog:2024-03-15

Greetings, all! My first post on Lemmy! 😀

For anyone new to the C64 scene, or returning to their Commodore roots, there may come a time when you might want to give text adventure games a try. If you do, here are a couple recommendations that I've enjoyed more recently.

For the noobie, Castle Quest, by Ricky Derocher, is a short and simple text adventure game, perfect for the beginner. The commands used by the text parser are uncomplicated and puzzles are relatively straight-forward.

Link to the itch.io page: https://rickyderocher.itch.io/castle-quest-commodore-64.

Once you get the hang of it, an enjoyable (and not too complicated) graphic text adventure you may want to try out is, The Curse of Rabenstein, by Stefan Vogt. Stefan has a great way of telling a story that draws you right in. Link to the itch.io page: https://8bitgames.itch.io/rabenstein.

Game on, Adventurer!

Hi, I am quite new to the C64 world. I have an Assy 250425 where everything works except up and right on Control port 2, as well as a few key combinations on the keyboard, tho all the keys work individually. My joystick works fine in Port 1. With a multimeter i checked continuity from the pins in the Port 2 to the respective pins on CIA 1 and they seem to all be working. My problem is I don't have the tools to desolder CIA 1 without destroying it, but I am scared to destroy a chip that is actually working. Are there any other tests I can do to make sure it's actually dead?

This is a nice little C64 game: you carry a grid with a value between 0 and 9. Catch matching numbers that add or substract from your value and never go below 0 or above 9. Understand? No? Just try it...:

I wanted one of these for such a very long time. Picked this one up a couple of years ago now, it's still awesome. :)
