There are a lot of well-meaning bots that bring posts here from other places, but they do more harm than good because we end up with a lot of low-quality posts that have been vetted by no one, and a low ratio of commenters/comments relative to a big flood of posts. So the result is a ton of posts with 0 or very few comments and low average quality.

If the only posts here were posts that someone decided was worth making, we'd have fewer, higher-quality posts, and more comments per post.

Also, with the quality of Twitter and Reddit deteriorating, it doesn't help to import those shitty dying cultures here. We should be building new cultures.

Can't the same be said of whatever action mods/admins might take?

I don't understand. We can't just block a troll and move on? Will there ever be a troll-less site anywhere?

You're doing the wrong math. In a year with no car accidents you get $0 back in benefits for your car insurance costs. In a year with decent health it's the same thing, you may pay more with insurance than without insurance, but you don't have to worry about being wiped out if something really bad happens.

I have a flask app with a bunch of home utilities I've written and one of them is a wrapper around yt-dlp that takes a URL and saves it to a Plex library location.

Then there's a bookmarklet I use from desktop Firefox when I'm on a youtube (or other) video page that sends the current URL to that endpoint.

Also I can "share" any video URL on my phone to this web service, and I use that all the time from Newpipe when I want to watch something on my TV instead of on the phone.

That only applies to the fucking legal system. Everyone else only has the obligation to use their best judgement. The legal system can put you in jail so it has a higher standard. Being accused of crimes is not a protected status.

Just turn it off. If they don't have income they don't exist.

Fuck the very idea of buying anything at CVS other than a prescription. Their prices are predatory high.

I'd die for Luna. Doesn't mean much right now, but, still.

It's never bothered me. It gives their sound some character. If I remember correctly, I didn't always love it on the acoustic solo Martin + Me album, but even then it wasn't a total dealbreaker.
