Communities can be rebuilt, as we've seen. There really is no excuse at this point for those mods to not leave and start rebuilding somewhere like Lemmy.

Reddit will never reverse course. Maybe their goal used to be aligned with ours, but now they're just a massive corporation chasing an ever growing profit.

ok no one cancel me but i think i like it better than memmy, and ive been stuck on memmy for weeks now

it reminds me of alien blue from years ago!! i'm really excited to dig in and start using it!!

edit: i did have to change the icon bc as a woman, a pink bean looks like a vaguely sexual app lol so i picked tutti frutti

I'm non tech.

I just work as essentially an administrative assistant in a real estate-esque office making $20 an hour.

Just a married woman in her 20s who is sick of Reddit's shit.

Lemmy feels like Reddit to me and Mastodon feels more like twitter

so to me they're both decentralized versions of popular social media

i just think of them as my new reddit and twitter since those companies are sitting at their desks jerking it all day

There are actually 3 lol

Absolutely agree.

Memmy is now in the same revered spot that Apollo was, and I feel like all the constant updates and finding new communities has been so exciting that it eases the pain of losing apollo

What you describe as the "issue" is the entire point of lemmy and decentralizing and all that.

once lemmy starts dictating "oh you have to change things in this community in this instance to match this instance" and "everything has to follow one master set of rules" they become reddit.

honestly the best way to solve your issue would just be multireddits, if you wanna see content from both communities just add it to a multilem or whatever they end up calling it.

i was gonna say, i'm using memmy mostly and my upvote is orange, downvote is blue

better than supporting reddit

i would rather deal with a few incredibly minor inconveniences

tbh i have a roof over my head and food in my mouth, so i haven't really thought about the number of swipes i have to make in an app, it just isn't that important

i'm more happy that i have a beautiful client to browse an alternative to reddit

i'll sit here happily and patiently while the devs carve out their path lol

This was really well said!!

I'm here from Reddit and that's what I've been doing, just subscribing to whatever I can find for each subreddit I'm losing, and then whichever one seems like it's either most active or has the most quality content stays and I unsub from whatever sublems aren't providing content.

This OP seems pissed off about subbing to multiple sublems that are the same but like....you don't have to. Go use Reddit? lol

The multiple sublems thing is kinda the point of Lemmy, there isn't one big overlord controlling everything

first was an ipod touch, when i was in middle school i think?

favorite so far has probably been just my iphone, i started with a 5 and now im on a 12 pro max with about 6 months until i can upgrade

i've loved the evolution of ios, and doing the betas and seeing how far it's come i still remember when the first iphone came out when i was in like 6th grade and my friend got one, and we thought the most simple shit was the coolest most futuristic thing we had ever seen

i really do love my macbook pro though. can't say it's my favorite cause i've had an iphone so much longer and i have my whole life on there, but using windows my whole life, then trying a chromebook during my Pixel 3 phase, and then finally getting a macbook has been wonderful

yeah, sublemmy felt like a mouthful but sublems almost sounds like sublime so it feels more natural
