My 32gb version was recently upgraded and it never gave out. They'll take a pretty serious beating.

It's still a terrible investment in the US if you are looking at it purely from a monetary perspective.

When I was looking at it, break even is usually just shy of 10 years, so let's call it that for easy math. You install a $20k solar system, and you end up making about $30k over a 25 year life span, assuming you never have any major issues and never move out of your house.

In contrast, you could dump that 20k into the stock market. With an average return of about 7-8% (the historical rate of the s&p500) you'd walk away with about $110-140k.

There's noble environmental reasons to do it, but financially it's just not a great return right now.

Edited to clarify: You'd also need to be paying for electric in the second example, so minus 50k over these 25 years. You're still up about double to triple over the solar panels.

I have been playing both of those on proton with little issue, and I'm not positive that the issues I experienced are exclusive to linux.

Yea they are all over the place, and it is clearly not organic.

It makes me heavily distrust them.

I'm not educated in this matter at all, this is just a guess with no basis.

A "cloud chamber" is a device used to detect radiation, and it has been that for a long time. Perhaps they wanted to distance themselves from that device, hence the strained acronym CLOUD.

Did they then immediately activate the office 365 that their parents paid for? Make sure it's still a local account, because Microsoft pushes pretty hard not to have those.

Is your friend using an online Microsoft account and not a local one? It is possible that the parental restrictions are set on their Microsoft account and not the computer.

If a situation calls for a gun being pulled, then stepping closer to your threat and offering the possibility of losing control of your weapon are both things that you don't do.

I understand what you mean, but pistol whipping is never the right option. If it's needed then the gun shouldn't be pulled.

Ubuntu has ZFS on root as one of the options in the normal graphical installer. I have it running on multiple machines.

Or, in the case of diamonds, artificial supply restriction, marketing, and demand.

Hey, number of standard cheeseburgers would still be an effective standard. All we want is one common unit.

It's really not that much weirder than horsepower for engines.
