Trying to be glib that most technological products are made from silicon, which generally can come from sand.

Yeah to add to that it is pronounced more like "Mass-tah-don" rather than "Mass-toe-don". The "tah" portion makes people think it's spelled with a "ta" since that would give you that pronunciation normally instead of "to". One of the many insane quirks of the English language stealing from other languages over the centuries.

That was tried back in the early 1900s with the concept of a "company town". The bad side of that is they ended up keeping your money as they owned the stores and the houses, so it basically became indentured servitude. Even worse, when you lost your job you immediately lost your housing.

You are getting a lot of mentions for LetsEncrypt, which is probably your best bet if you want free, just note that certificates are limited to 90 days. That means you either need to manually update your certificates every 3 months or ensure you have automation in place to do it.

Not saying it's impossible, just letting you know that's one of the trade offs for getting the cert for free.

Sees the word "critical" in a command, doesn't think to look up what might just be "critical" about the command....

Is this really any different from Spectre and other types of attacks? Except those targeted predictive execution.

Control is another thing. I can't tell you the amount of execs I've heard say "they're losing control of their company" or "I don't feel I have the same control over my people". It's crazy that they think that. What do they think the past 3 years have been when they've gotten record profits "oh, but our profits would be even better if we had people back in the office". Sadly no amount of data will override the entrepreneurial "it could always be more" what if that they throw out.

Keep going back much, much further. I remember hearing that phrase back in the early 2000s, and wouldn't doubt it if if was referenced as early as 1999.
