I feel like everybody is overlooking the fact that this person is getting an ad, to watch ads, after already paying for Premium.

I used BlueProximity for a number of years and it was great.

It eventually became defunct, but that link appears to be a fork to bring it somewhat up to date. I have not tested this new version though since I work from home now.

The infotainment system in my friend's truck would periodically get wonky and he would have to pull over, turn the truck off, wait a minute, then turn it back on.

We always joked that he had to do a Ctrl-Alt-Brake Pedal.

If you can run the algorithm online, then the Ziegler-Nichols method has given me decent results.

But, that seems like bad advice in general and I'm not sure why you would say that. I am genuinely curious if you care to explain. Beyond reading most of this article, I haven't done any research into current interest rates or house prices lately, so maybe there's more to it than I am aware.

Generally, buying a house is a good long-term strategy. You can give 100% of your money to somebody else with rent, or you can effectively put an increasingly bigger portion of that money into savings. Even if a mortgage payment is 50% more than rent somewhere, that difference would basically be the principal portion of the payment at the beginning and more later on, meaning it stays your money. And even if the price of houses are leveling off now, they're nearly guaranteed to go up at some rate.

According to the article, if you don't think you'll be able to keep your mortgage for 13.5 years, then it sounds like the closing cost and other fees could make it a bad investment. So maybe if you're 60 years old or if you don't ever expect to increase your salary then maybe this isn't a good idea. Otherwise, I don't think somebody should just blanket decide to resign to being a slave to housing and life in general.

Buying a home isn't as easy as it used to be. But it's not impossible. And it is probably the single biggest thing you can do to change the trajectory of your life. For many people, I would think it is worth serious consideration.

These are just my opinions, though. I'm not a financial advisor.

This is disingenuous at best and incorrect at worst. The mute button on the Echo is just that, a button; it is not a switch. It is software-controlled and pushing it just sends a signal to the microcontroller to take some action. For instance, one action is to turn on the red indicator light; that's definitely not physically connected to the mute button.

Maybe another response of pushing the button is to disable the transistor used for the microphone, but it's more likely that it just sets a software flag for the algorithm to stop its processing of the microphone input signal. Regardless of which method it uses, the microcontroller could undoubtedly just decide to revert that and listen in, either disabling or not disabling the red light at the same time.

But I personally don't think it listens in when muted. I don't think it spies on us to target ads based on what we say around it. I'm not worried that the mic mute function doesn't work as intended.

But I fully understand that it is fully capable of it, technically speaking.

You can tell that this is just a cash grab, as opposed to a technical or administrative motivation, by the mere fact that Simple/Select Choice plans will be migrated to Magenta, while Magenta plans will be migrated to Go5G. So Magenta isn't going anywhere for the foreseeable future.

Also, of course, by the fact that you can opt out of the "upgrade."

I switched to T-Mobile a few years ago and, coming from AT&T, it had been hands-down a positive experience. More features, unlimited data, better customer service, better speeds, all for less than what I was paying AT&T. I even have a line or two that was added for free, no strings attached.

But then there were the many data breaches and the announcement they would add a surcharge for credit card payment. And now this.

Looks like I came on board just in time to witness the enshitification
