RC Airplanes

Got the plane to fly again, but the nose and motor mount were so wonky that i didnt really have a lot of control and the plane crashed. This time over i will make a nose from scratch. (Pic made by my friend gregor )

I crashed this plane massively (broke the motor shaft), but with some tape and an amount of hot glue i would rather not disclose, it works again.

The issue ended up being that the plane was too tail-heavy. As the saying goes, a nose-heavy plane won’t fly well, but a tail-heavy plane won’t fly at all.

I grabbed a rock off the road and stuffed it into the battery compartment, and used a dried leaf to hold it in place along with the battery, and somehow my caveman tactics worked. It flew very well even on a breezy evening, although using the V tail as a rudder didn’t go well. It caused too much adverse yaw and general weird flight characteristics, so I’m sticking to bank and yank.

It’s struggled to fly well, but I think it’s because I’m a new pilot and it’s much less floaty compared to the other one I made. I’m hoping to get better before I break the poor thing, we’ll see

When you’re migrating to a new transmitter and instead of measuring your current throws, you just go with the defaults in the manual. I was definitely used to more elevator and that loop was not supposed to end with a hard landing.

I haven't flown my main birds in a few years (only my profile foamie) but I just renewed my AMA membership, field membership, and Part 107 currency.

I also finally built some coping to help transport it all more easily.

I'm excited.
