The only counter I have to that is how sensitive our brains are to chemical, mental, and physical trauma.

Drugs, injury, and environmental stress cause easily observable behavior changes, but also changes on the brain measurable in medical imaging. And there's a lot of acknowledgement that these changes can occur in childhood and persist.

I don't think anyone chooses to be cruel, I think it's forced on them in ways they can't do anything about, and as a society we owe it to them to do better and help them.

Uhm.

Ok. He should not be in charge of the executive office. We know he's stupid but, damn.

Upper Midwest.

Zillow is months behind, but you can find chunks where they've fallen 10-50k since first listing for houses under $500k.

No, they aren't talking about the sudden drop, they're talking about the rapid increase. Which I get the point but we may finally be looking at a true correction, which is hopeful more than anything

Man, the cross section of people who have seen and enjoy older south Park episodes is confusing.

It's never who you expect or hope. I've kind of given up on using it, unless I know for a fact that the people I'm talking to have seen south Park.

The part I don't get is that smokers smell like shit standing 6 feet away.

How the fuck is any smoker comfortable with that?

[–] peopleproblems 3 points 1 day ago

That's pretty much exactly what happened.

I typed the first "ha" cause it was a great slap, then I typed the next "hahahaha" because it was hilarious, and at that point I was committed anyway, so I just added the last revelation that it was actually not far off from reality

This is what I do for work I guess

It will still break them if you try it

I'm talking like one person brought in all the money for a decade, then a divorce happens. Some of it makes sense - a house with mortgage, one spouse buys the other out of the house. Which is great, but if one spouse doesn't have the income to take a loan out to buy the other, does that mean that the spouse who does have the income has the choice to buy out or sell?

Similarly, things like 401ks and pensions I imagine you can't just take out half the cash in them and give that to their spouse. Or does that have to be a loan for the amounts in those plans?

Is it debt all the way down for both?

Let me set the stage: Newly single dad of a young kid. After COVID-19 I haven't done much outside of my home and taking care of my kid. I work full time-remote, and between the kiddo and leaving room for a hobby or taking care of the house, it seems like the only other thing I have time for is sleep.

The thing I know is that this is likely an issue with my anxiety and anxious attachment. The conclusion we've arrived at in therapy is that I gotta meet people. I apparently forgot, or don't know how to do that. Where to meet people. It's not a big city, but 200k-300k people in the county.

Maybe I'm looking for something of a strategy more than anything.

edit: thank you guys, I really appreciate it!
