Should rewatch (and reread) YKK one of these days, both are great and I think about the sort of mono no aware-related themes presented in them every now and then. Maybe it's a bit harder for me to separate YKK and Aria in my head because of the mentioned Choro Club OST overlap and the watercolor sort of look they both take on at times.... Although the post mentions layers with respect to Quiet Country Cafe, that actually brings to mind some of the bits of the first OVA series that I found the most memorable in
YKK first OVA series
the insert song bits that layer Alpha on top of various post-apocalyptic Yokohama scenery.

SEED seems to be one of the more divisive non-UC series in terms of opinion. I really personally really liked SEED, its characters (although they all kinda have the same face, which apparently tends to be a thing with the character designer Hisashi Hirai who also did Fafner) and themes. It kind of has the same story beats as 0079 (and was written that way) but it's also its own thing (it feels the most Macross-y out of all the Gundams IMHO with idols and messy love polygons). The sequel series SEED Destiny is less favorably received than SEED due to the drop in writing quality (it also tends to overuse the same musical cues) but I found it alright, definitely not as good as SEED but still watchable.
Pretty much picked up watching this because of Naomi Oozora and her previously voicing Jahy, Satania and Uzaki, but the rest of the cast is pretty ridiculously stacked too (Yuuichi Nakamura, Yoko Hikasa, Ami Koshimizu, Hiro Shimono, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, etc.).
Was a fun first ep, I liked the interactions between Maou and Max.
I really liked the transition from the dark, deserted town streets to the lighted ones with all the banners with it floating and flickering in the sky. Also that part with Aya recounting how she lost her body, with her glowing floating head and that figure emerging from the puddle of blood was great looking too. Those two scenes sold me on following this show this season.
According to the Love Live page on the other website, the "yahoo!" was You lol.
Finding something only you can do sounds like a promising, fun Love Live-y sorta theme. I liked the super sentai poses at the end (I kinda wonder if they're a subunit in this universe? hoping for a song from them in the next ep) and can kinda sorta see how the animals might get cured in a fantasy idol show (and am hoping I'm at least partially right).
The transformation looks really cool and the mecha(?) (or kaiju?) designs look rad (I rewatched from the transformation in the trailer to the end more than a few times...).
Looks like a solid staff. Haven't watched anything the director Motonobu Hori is credited for (Super Crooks and Carol and Tuesday which is on my PTW) but Yutaka Izubuchi is credited as producer and series composition...er and looks like he mostly has a bunch of mechanical and character design credits for things like the Patlabor movies and a lot of Gundam (including Char's Counterattack, War in the Pocket, Gundam Wing) but he's also directed the Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199 reboot (which is quite good).

ah, my favorite non-UC show is back (at least Seed was, Destiny had some issues but I still liked it overall)....... i can't remember what the significance of that skeleton was... looking forward to updated seed (i think that's what that was?) dropping/splashing animations

spread of information thermological entropy confirmed? sounds like it's time for claude shannon to save the day.
i suppose the finale is alright end to a pretty strong rest of the season but it kinda feels like a lot was jammed in at the end (not helped with dumping all these new terms on us) that could be explored in more detail over a longer of period of time (which i guess is still possible, although the show made the point of putting "this is where the story concludes" at the end..). seeing the space assembly league use previous events as a power play and excuse to completely hunt down the benerit group and associates would've been intriguing to see play out much further. the data storm thing kinda ended up being pretty newtypey that might be explorable more (or at least explained more, especially with things dissolving and the whole entropy thing... but that also may be treading on previously explored territory, just with a different name). also there's a lot of potential for themes to explore, like the whole data storm thing and connecting things together (DSoT, data storm of things?) and there's that whole thing about gund-arm tech being used for weaponry vs medical uses that kinda does play a plot point (petra got new legs!) but also kinda feels unexplored, at least in terms of the process behind-the-scenes and actually getting to that point.
